Brute, how do you like the Alpine radio? Depending on the model, reviews have been scarce so there's really no consensus so far. Also what function does the "radio" button serve on your kick panel switch plate?
I know the Alpine has a lot of features, but mostly I was wondering if any function or feature could operate more efficiently or better...

I like the Alpine unit very much. My original thought to install it was the larger monitor for camera functions...& the ability to have 3 cameras...two forward & one aft. It's nice to be able to climb a large steep hill on a trail your not familiar with and be able to see below the hood line as you crest the hill without fully committing to going over...and the ability to see tire placement on a technical line through the rocks is nice. Digital engine gauges in large easy to read format also great...my only complaint is the gps navigation on road...it could be better.
The radio switch is actually misnamed on the Switch pro...it is for the dome light I had to put in since the original sound bar was deleted...this label will change this week...

Sharkey was correct...it originally was to power the CB & 50w...they both now are hot when key is on

Thanks for the reply.....it's one of those things I'm considering down the line. I'm leaning towards the "CarPlay" model.

What don't you like about the on-road navigation? Can't be any worse than my 730n. It's about useless.

Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but can the cameras be activated at any speed? Having an active rear view would be nice from time to time being that the EVO carrier pretty much blocks the rearview mirror....

I've wondered the same. I'd love to put a backup camera that's auto-triggered by putting it in Reverse but it'd be nice to be able to manually select it from my 430n while driving as well

Only warranty it might void would be the unit warranty but I can't see that happening. As for insurance, I highly doubt it'll do anything.

I haven't tried to activate the rear camera while moving, but I have done it while at a stop without going into reverse...I'll check it out when I'm back in WA around Thanksgiving.
The rear camera does go on automatically when in reverse...
