Jeep Accident in Colorado - Roll cage discussion

I suppose it's possible she had noticed her husband fell asleep (or had a health event?) and unbuckled her seatbelt to reach over to the driver's side petals to stop the vehicle. It passed across the median, so there could have been time for such a scenario. Or not. The kids would obviously know.

But yeah, people that don't wear seatbelts blow my mind. It took several years, but my wife's family finally buckles up in the back seat now without me having to ask
That’s pretty dumb if that’s the case. The gear selector is in the center and so is the ebrake. Jeeps are small, grab the wheel, flip in neutral and apply the ebrake with the button pushed. Worst case you read end someone.

I know it’s heat of the moment but I can’t be the only one who has thought of what to do in case brakes go out. Maybe I’m a weirdo but every time I get in a vehicle with someone I instantly think about what it would take if I had to maneuver the vehicle from the non driver seat.
