So I finally got a chance to get some poser shots. Since my last update I got my crawler concepts tire carrier installed and I did install the rear bumpstop extensions.
Overall impressions of the tire carrier are good, and it seems pretty stout, I still put a steel cable around it for safety reasons. The install was straight forward, I only watched/used the install video on YouTube since it didn't come with instructions to install it.
I also reinstalled my hard top, I have to say I like the way it looks a lot more with the hard top. I never posted what I did about the flapping on the trektop but I did put some stick on Velcro strips at the top of the rear window on the ?plastic hanger?and adhered the other side to the canvas overhang. It stopped all the annoying flapping so I was happy about it.
Today I removed the front crash bar and the air dam. While I was doing this I accidentally cut the vacuum bracket off, so a relocation bracket has been ordered, right now I'm running the zip tie mod. I also rotated the swaybar disconnect motor using the metalcloak method, I just bought a long bolt from the hardware store and two nuts. I rotated the motor the way their install video has it done and then ran the new long bolt through the rubber mount ran two nuts on the bolt then I screwed it into the new mounting hole on the motor then tightened the two nuts up against the motor. I will post photos of this when I get a chance
Poser shots
Bump stop extensions doing their job! No more cut treads!! I did some light wheeling before I had them installed and cut my passenger rear tire treads pretty deep, it is now mounted as my spare.
Enjoy!
I have also come to learn that these big ass tires cause other issues. I am certain now that my driver side front wheel has ?negative camber? And I have also started to hear some squeaking coming from that wheel, I hope, this prompted me to do some googling and Eddies write up for changing the unit bearing came up. I read through it and the issue that Rubicat had seems similar to mine right now, I have ordered the Timkin unit bearing and Crown ball joints for the drivers side hopefully this will straighten the wheel out. If this doesn't straighten it out I am suspecting I welded on the c gussets with onto a bent c.... I haven't taken it to get aligned since I put the wheels and tires on because no one local to me has a machine big enough to align it and I also didn't mess with the suspension so I never made it a priority. I was able to get the wheels and tires balanced though! If this doesn't resolve the issue I see a)a lot of tire rotations in my future, b) a new PR44 housing, or maybe c) PR60 5x5.5 pattern, a new set of wheels and some wheel spacers.... Only time will tell and how fast I can save my OT pennies
