What does everyone think about the rear Jeep Safari tailgate with the angled lower driver side corner? Shape of things to come? I can't see the reason for it

For all the times I've caught my hip on the pointy edge of my tail gate and cussed it to kingdom come, I can appreciate the rounded corner.

I did not read through the whole thread, but did anyone notice the hinges on the tailgate are on the driver side? So could this image be a reversed negative? Could explain the quality of the image.
