I couldn't stay jeepless

I know I wasn't easy on it but he and I were talking when we ran Chinaman and he said that he ran a 30 for years with no problems and they not as weak they're made out to be. Just have to give him some shit.

Well, to be fair while mine never actually broke, it was on it's last leg when I pulled it. Also I dont have a V8.

Just got an update this morning from the body shop.

"Good Morning, I just wanted to let you know I have sent everything to USAA for review revised estimate is over 15k and it is showing as a total loss without considering upgrades. I expect USAA to review and then call you to go over value and options. Please give me a ring if you have any questions. Thank You!"

I may be bringing the Jeep home and fixing it myself.

Wow. 15K seem like a lot. At least you get to do it your way.
Wow..........
Because the engine moved and bent the engine mounts on the frame they would have to pull the engine to straighten it so that added a lot in labor alone. Then the axle tube being broke makes for a bunch more labor to swap all the internals to a new housing and reset the gears. He was also concerned about the pass. LCA being bent and said the frame mount may have been damaged. That would require a frame replacement because they can't make frame mods I guess [emoji2369]. I just hear "tons, long arms, upgrade, upgrade upgrade..."

Just found this thread. You needed a new project for that big ass garage anyway. I am sure you will make it worth it, but sorry for all the hassle.

Got the Jeep back to the house on Saturday morning. Didn't really have time to mess with it Saturday but today I got to pulling some crap off of it.

Got the front bumper pulled off and all ready to go on Craigslist. "Good condition but shows some signs of wear"

Also cut the lower cross member off because it was pushed back into the sway bar.

A few shots of the frame horns now that the bumper is off. Found a kink in the frame on the inside of the passenger front body mount (you can see the sway bar mount at the bottom of the frame rail). Shouldn't be too big of a deal. Next step will be to pull the axle tube together and weld it up so I can roll it around.

Side job

Got a 240 outlet wired in for the welder today.

It’s a start, it will be interesting to see what you find as you get into it. I hope it’s less than you thought and this ends up big win for you.

Insurance called and said the Jeep may not be a total loss. They are sending the claim to a specialist to evaluate.

I think what may have helped spark all of this is I noticed that they referenced Auto trader for vehicle value but they found stock 07 sports for comparison. I went on auto trader and found them a couple of 07's that had V8 swaps. Needless to say they were listed FAR higher than the $13k quote that they gave me for value. I also sent in receipts for the engine and transmission as well as the Motech kit and included engine and transmission VIN just for good measure.

More updates to come.

Good thinking. Hopefully they come up with a solution and you get it back on the road.
