Hydro steer ram mounts

Hey people. I've pulled my jeep off the road to clear my parts bench of shit that needs installing. Next is hydro-assist so I'd like to see how some of you have mounted your ram. 50913460950__65644395-6602-4D58-AA3E-AD8CAAE52DB2.JPG

Thanks everybody!

Samesies. Just used their tabs and welded onto my synergy bracket and had to use a larger clamp for my tie rod. Simple as can be.

I used the tabs that came in the psc kit and also their tie rod clamp, very easy

I plan on one day going hydro assist. I'll be installing myself. I know how to weld but I don't call myself a welder..haha. I plan on welding the tabs to my EVO track bar bracket. I only have a 110v machine. Do you think .025 wire on gas (cleaner) will be sufficient or should I use .035 flux core? Just curious.

You will get more penetration using the flux core due to a higher current density.

I understand you wanting to run solid wire ( I hate flux core) but for a high stress item like this you need good penetration. It Doesn't mater how pretty the weld is if it brakes.

Why flux core? Is it stronger or because of the diameter? My logic might be flawed but I was under impression that mig was stronger than flux.

Yeah that was my thought. I wasn't sure if I'd get enough penetration with .025.

The larger diameter allows higher amperage and gives better penetration. My machine says it can only handle .025 solid wire. I'd assume this is due to polarity and trying to run anything larger would draw too much current set up that way and cause damage go the machine.

Edit: Just read up on it. The machine isn't capable of pushing enough amps set up for solid wire. You won't have the penetration needed to produce a structurally sound weld. When you run flux core you reverse the polarity so the machine will produce enough amperage to give you penetration. Anything over 1/4" is going to require multiple passes.

Another trick to boost the capability of your machine is to use pure CO2 instead of the argon mix gas. CO2 will give you deeper penetration, the arc stability will decrease though so you will get a bit more spatter. Overall I prefer using CO2 because of performance characteristics and cost. Filling a bottle is cheap, and a 20# bottle will last you forever.

I think I've heard that somewhere before but it's good to know.
