How Many Times have you been Pulled Over in Your Jeep?

Totally blew it and forgot to take a pic but probably because I knew I was in for a ticket. Was jamming in our Gladiator along a very remote stretch of Nevada highway and in an area where there are a lot of small hills. And, just as I crested one, I could see in the far distance on top of the next hill, what looked like a state trooper. Even though I killed my cruise control as soon as I saw him and started to slow down, his lights went on and so, I just pulled over. Soon after he caught up to me, he circled around to get behind me, got out of his Explorer, walked up to my window and the first thing he said was, "good lord, how big are your tires?!" After we both laughed a bit, I responded and then he proceeded to tell me how fast he got me at. He then thanked me for pulling over so quickly. He asked for my license and went back to his Explorer and when he came back, he asked if I had my cruise control set. After I confirmed as much, he smiled and asked if I had a chance to calibrate my speedometer for my tires - as in, he was looking for a way to let me off. Of course, I stupid me just told him the truth, that I had and that this was all on me - my cruise was set at 81. After giving me a look like, "hey dumb ass, I'm trying to help out you here", he let me know that this was a bad place to be driving as fast as I was, especially with all the hills and then he went so far as to tell me what I should of had my cruise set at (which was still pretty fast) in order to not get pulled over in the future. And, long story short... the very nice trooper let me off  Man, you should have seen the look on Cindy's face! But, I'm sure it looked about the same as mine! 🤪

Anyway, I'll count this experience as a Christmas gift to me! 😁
Had your yoga pants on, didn't you........

He should have given you a ticket for your poor responses lol

No sway bars on a lifted XJ......pulled over for going "fast" a few times.
Proly caught their eye w body roll and they thought an excuse to look for other.
All legal, did the routine, no tickets.

Wow! That’s a fantastic Christmas gift!

Man, I have to say that I'm feeling really really lucky today. Totally spaced out and was doing 50 in a 35 and it wasn't until a local sheriff coming in the opposite direction turning on his lights to wake me up and realize how fast I was going. Of course, by the time he flipped his truck around, I was already pulling over, turning off my engine, opening up my window and putting my hands on the wheel. When the officer walked up to the window, he let me know why he pulled me over and I just apologized - admitted that I knew better and had just completely spaced out. Long story short... he let me off with a warning. Whew!! 🙏

It’s amazing how that works out when being honest and respectful lol Glad you got off with a warning!

Thanks! And yes, I totally knew I blew it and I think he could tell. Super nice guy but then, I've found that most are.
Gotta love local Sherrif. Few years ago I was speeding pretty good on the highway in our small town. Sherrif coming the other way flashes his headlights at me so I slow down he goes past then turns down a side street and keeps going. Come over the hill and there’s a trooper sitting there running radar. Hah.

You should have kept it real and sounded off loudly with the following three statements.

1- I know my rights!

2- Why aren’t you out catching real criminals?

3- Fuck da po-lease!

Seriously, glad he showed some grace. Most sheriff deputies are reasonable people as long as you are too.

You know, I do need to point out that I was in the 392 when this happened and I gotta say, unlike my other Jeeps, it's really really easy to go a bit too fast in it and not realize it. And I'm being serious here. With a 3.6L, I can kinda tell how fast I'm going based on how my engine sounds but with a 392, such little effort is put out to make it go especially for daily driving. I may have to just start using the cruise control on it, just to be safe LOL

pffttt .. now you're just showing off
I better come get it until you've learned your lesson

Same thing happened in Williams, AZ to me. I thought I was getting ticked for sure just because of my CA plates. He walked up and asked if he knew why I was pulled over. I honestly had no idea and explained that. He said I was going 20mph over (I was slowing down because I thought I was entering a 25mph zone, was already in it apparently). He asked for my registration which was currently sitting at home in my office. I explained that and apologized as I didn't realize the speed changed prior to where I thought it was. I was just honest and kept things light. Explained that we come here all the time and know to keep it slow in town. He ran my info and all came back good. His only concern with speed where he stopped me was the tourists Jay walking there and didn't want anyone to get hit. I apologized more and understood where he was coming from. He graciously let me off with a warning.

I often use the speed control when the speed limit is low and speed is likely to be monitored. It just does so much better than my foot does and it seems to control the transmission better too in order to use the engine for braking.

I have been lucky in the Gladiator so far even though my speedo is off a little with the 35's. Hopefully I can stay under the radar.
