How did your JK come to be

Short version.

Had a lot of jeeps. Wife and I always enjoyed them.
The Idle pulley broke (on her grand cherokee) on a hot summer day headed to the Grand Canyon and overheated the motor.
Drive it for a bit longer. Changed oils and found milk. :(

It needed a bunch of work so started looking. Found our 08 sitting on the lot for cheap. Certified used and traded in her grand Cherokee.

After I crash my moms Malibu ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1366949331.348384.jpg
I had to give her mi 08 Volvo s40
Pic will be provided tomorrow.
I had no car for months like 6 ....
So I got a 3.5 in collage & my bro told me if I get a job he will give me a car for free. So I got a job doing bpos.
:)

I always wanted a jk because I just to see project jk on YouTube so when he took me to rancho car dealer my black jk was the big winner.

He pay for 2 months but now I'm paying for it lol sorry for mah English more than welcome to fix this :)

Been offroading since I was young. Dad had a built up Bronco we'd take out just about every weekend. That was fun until my older brother rolled it (with me as a passenger).

I've owned 4 Jeeps. I was very happy with my '07 Rescue Green 2dr JK, built it up, took it everywhere.

THEN my good buddy PigInAJeep says, drive my '12 JKUR, it'll change your life, it did, went home and told the wife how impressed I was with the ride, and performance of his Jeep with the new engine, EVO coilovers and 37's.

Wife tells me, I should look into getting a JKUR. Who am I to argue with MY commander right? I got right on it. Rest is history. Love my new rubi, building slowly but surely. Thanks again PigInAJeep!

I had my F150 and got a new job. Gas was killing me so I started looking at lifted 4 door jeeps on google. I got the jeep bug and started looking at them. Found the one I liked and went in and bought it on Sunday July 7th. Couldn't be happier right now and can't wait to get a JKUR soon!

I had an '04 Mustang but, I wanted to go off road a little bit. Didn't know the difference between "full time AWD" and a true 4WD and the sales dude convinced me that an AWD Ford Escape would be perfect for me. After beating the living hell out of that Escape (cracked oil pan, destroyed Cats, fried coil packs), I was getting annoyed. Started looking for a true 4WD online (around the time the JK's came out). It was a toss up between a Jeep or a Land Rover. Eddie invited me to come out to a JK BBQ down in O'Neill park. Fell in love with Jeeps at that moment. I happened to be driving past a used car lot one foggy night and spotted a white LJ and pulled over. Looked it over and went back the next day right as I got off work. Two days later, I had my brand new (to me) '05 LJ.

Two weeks later...I had death wobble. Hahaha

I have never bought a new car for myself. Bought my wife one, but I had never spent more than 10K on a vehicle for myself before...and I considered the 10K car a splurge at that.

I was in the need of a new car and living in Northern Nevada I preferred something with AWD or a 4WD. I'd never owned a 4WD vehicle before. I saw a 4 door jeep one day (bone stock) and remembered how I enjoyed driving my older brother's 1987 wrangler with the top off. But I also remembered how much of a dog it was to drive, especially at altitude and while going to the lake. I was really reluctant to spend the money on a new car and was looking hard at another used car. Then I started contemplating something new. Anyway, I was seriously contemplating an Audi A6 wagon or Subaru WRX STI. But I was also looking at fun cars like a Porsche 911 and Mercedes Benz E55 AMG. I went and drove a jeep to "get it out of my system" and remind myself how crappy they drove. Well, the 2011 I drove was pretty nice. I then found a forum that talked about a new/better engine coming out, and, as they say...the rest is history. :yawn37:

Edit: Oh and my wife said "make it look cool" when I bought it. Of course at the time I thought that would result in a budget boost and 33"s. :cheesy:

BB and 33's to JKX. Its a fast acting illness. I've been treating mine but it doesn't seem to be going away just worse

Had an old Tj as a gift for my first car from my aunt but my parents had some money issues and I sold it to help them out, bought a thousand dollar f250 and thought my jeep days were over for a while ended up getting a really good job out of high school but it was a drive cause I live out in the sticks, so I sold the truck to get a car with gas mileage didn't think I could afford the payments of a jk just yet but u went looking anyway I was very surprised that I could actually afford the payments and bought one the same night as I sold my truck people said I was crazy but I actually get double the mileage

Kept telling my wife I really wanted a Jeep. We were talking about buying a used one for our third vehicle, but my 07' Titan had another issue. So once I got it from the dealer, I drove it to the Jeep dealer and traded that POS in. Love my Jeep.

I used to think Jeeps were stupid we always had big truck and quads, then my wife decided she wanted one so I picked her up a 74 CJ5 for her birthday one year. I ended up restoring it and slapping some 33's on it, we drove it for 2 summers and had a blast. She needed a new vehicle in 06 so we sold the CJ and got her a 06 TJ, Lifted it enjoyed the heck out of it and then she saw the 4 door and in 08 we bought the JKU. In the meantime I bought and built a XJ for me. 2013 we decided to sell our camper which meant I didn’t need my F-250 anymore so I sold the F-250, the camper, and my XJ, I took her 08 JKU and got her a 13 JK and I have been building it slowly since.

While stationed overseas way back in the 80's I had to take pictures of an aerial gun range: rode shotgun on a door-less jeep over rocks and thru a stream. I knew back then I wanted a jeep but needed more space than what a 2 door offers. In the mid 90's I participated in a Chrysler PT Cruiser pre-launch study and saw an early 4-door Wrangler. Not the Dakar and before the Resque concepts. I told the engineers that if they ever built a 4 door, they have a buyer. My dream came true and bought my JKU in 2007. Just had to wait 25 years.

well i was driving my '95 Geo Prizm down the Atlatic City Expressway to go see my GF in ventnor at that time. i was prob about 5 mins away from her house when i heard a clang and saw smoke coming out from the back. i promptly slowed down from 80 to 65 and stayed there. once the smoke went away a sped back up (idiot move #1). as soon as i hit AC my engine stalled. i threw it in neutral and drifted for as long as i could and started it again (#2). drove for 3 of the 5 blocks i had left and stalled again. once again i started it (#3) and made it to her house. found out that when i got my oil changed earlier in the week the damn shop didnt screw to drain plug back in all the way :banghead: finny thing is the damn car ran for another 8 months till i got my jeep.

After owning many different cars to include mustangs, Mercedes, Nissan 350Z, and even a 1958 VW Bug, I decided I wanted an open top Jeep. I found a 1983 Jeep CJ7 and fell in love with it. I worked on it with the help of my kids and my wife. We all loved it, and it was great to drive. I used it as my daily driver, driving it 63 miles a day, 5 days a week, plus whatever I drove on the weekends. I had an elective surgery because my Wife and I decided we didn't want to have anymore children. During the simple procedure, the doctor ended up damaging nerves and messing stuff up pretty bad. I was in lots of pain, and was on medication and taking shots to dull the pain for a year while deployed. When I got back, I was informed that I could no longer take the shots or medication, as a year was the longest the meds could safely be used, so either live with the pain or back under the knife for me. In the meantime, I had come to terms with the fact that I was going to be in pain for the rest of my life. Where do the Jeeps come in? It was to the point I could no longer even depress the clutch to shift some days without being in excruciating pain. I decided it would be best to get rid of it, in hopes I would someday get an automatic Jeep, maybe a TJ with all that fancy coil suspension stuff!! My wife and I had visited several Jeep dealerships around the area looking around and I really liked what the JKs had to offer. All the personality of my old CJ and all the modern conveniences of a new vehicle. Well, I went in for the surgery, and was put on some serious meds while on recovery. About a week into recovery, my wife wakes me up and tells me to go to the window. I kept telling her no, I was hurting too bad. She finally got me to the window, and what do I see when I look out the window. Sitting in the driveway is a brand new, 2013 True Blue JK Sport. Almost the same color as my old CJ was. I was floored. My wife bought me a new Jeep! I spent the next week trying to get down the stairs to look at it, every time my wife left the house, got in the shower, was sleeping, didn't matter, there I was trying to crawl my crippled ass down the stairs. The rest is, as they say, history! :thankyou:

I plan on building the JK with vintage, old school cues to pay homage to my old CJ. I'm going to build it into a JK7!

Thanks! I absolutely adore my wife. She is awesome. She's thinking she may want to trade her Commander in for a 4 door JK now. I'm trying to convince her that an Unlimited Rubicon needs to be in her future! As for the surgery, getting better everyday!! :thumb:

My dad and I were talking about getting a wrangler fro many many years we were looking from 2008 through 2012 and were thinking about getting one as our fifth car towards the end of 2011 then my dad realized we didn't need one at that moment but I wasn't having that I had been dreaming about getting one for almost 6 years at this point and I went to my dad and sat down with him and asked how we could get this done he said " if you get honor roll this whole year (this is while i was doing pretty awful in class I was trying but I just wasn't able to succeed) I will buy you a jeep" I honestly thought he was joking because who would do that for just honor roll and we pretty much never talked about it again I still busted my ass and pulled 2 As and 3 Bs and by the second quarter my dad at dinner said I am buying you a jeep. again I thought he was kidding because thats what he does sometimes. a few weeks later I was home working on a project and my dad comes home and hands me a piece of paper while saying the words 2012 wrangler sahara. looking at the paper it was build sheet and I practically shit my pants he had done it 8 weeks later I was leaving the dealership in my new jeep 18 years old and I drive the nicest car in the family. love you dad

When it was time to start looking for a car, my dad and I began the search and I said "Dad i really want to drive a manual car." Well he said "ok but not for your first car, I want you to learn to drive first." I settled with that and we came upon a 2008 Grand Cherokee. I loved the thing, was great car, but the time came where I felt I had learned to drive well and I still wanted to drive a stick shift. So I began searching the internet on my own for options of cars to get and when I brought this to my dad's attention, he said "It's got to be able to do everything your car (grand cherokee) can do at least." For me that just made the search harder but I realized that my only option was a wrangler. One of my really close friend's had just got a wrangler and I didn't want to get this because I knew he would think I was copying. But I thought to myself he won't he's not that type of kid. So I busted my ass in school to get my grades up and get into college and after proving to my dad I worked hard, he agreed to get me the 2013 JKU that we have now. My friend did get mad at me because he thought I copied, I explained to him that I didn't, but hey i worked my ass off and I know it. I love the car and wouldn't trade it for anything even though I almost lost a good friend because of it. My dad loves it so much he wanted to start building it up. I just agreed to everything he suggested and can't thank him enough.

Between my father, brother and I...we have owned a myriad of TJ, YJ LJ and JKs. We love our jeeps and I don't see myself ever not having one. I do however miss my old beat to shit manual YJ the most. Loved it and didn't give a shit about it at the same time. Hard to beat up a 2013 and not cringe when you do.
