Hello everyone,

I’m Guillaume, from France, near to Chamonix ! Sorry, my english is not very good !

I'm a happy owner of a 2009 WRANGLER JKU for a few years and I am always looking for good advice and feedback. Engine-wise it is a 3.8l V6.

I am not far from 200,000 km but it is rather in very good condition. I have always been a fan of JEEP, I love this WRANGLER! It spends the year in Haute-Savoie and the summer in Corsica...where we travel a lot.

To give it a little facelift, I upgrade it a little on certain aspects regularly and it is in particular this last point that brings me to you.

For about a year now, my car radio has only been working intermittently, the touchscreen was working less and less well and it would turn on then turn off, then turn back on, etc... it was a Media Center 730 type model with GPS hands-free without the voice-activated Uconnect™ system or the Uconnect™ system.

So I decided to invest in a new android touchscreen + cameras to complete its modernization. I bought it on aliexp.

Received very quickly, well packaged, I rushed to assemble it... and when it was time to do the test connection, that's when I had a problem: the screen wouldn't turn on! and every 25 seconds or so, I had all the dashboard lights come on, the turn signals too, the windshield wipers coming on and a very quick message, "no bus" on the meter display.

I checked the fuses of course, I tried disconnecting the battery, long enough, nothing works. And when I plug my old car radio back in, it works as well as before. I should point out that on the JK, I didn't have Bluetooth or other hands-free systems (I'm thinking that maybe that's where it comes from?).

I tried different things like resetting the meters or starting with the old radio and then plugging in the new screen... but it didn't work.

I also cleaned the electrical connectors with a spray... I changed the battery terminals because they were a little loose following the recent battery change...

No change !

On the many tests I did on Thursday, the new screen lit up briefly for 2 to 3 seconds and that 4 or 5 times in total...

I contacted the seller of the screen of course. He asked me to configure the BUS (??) except that the screen does not light up at all, I do not really see how to configure anything…

Yesterday, he suggested that I “connect” two wires from the supplied harness together (yellow and red) … and there: the screen lights up! But this time it stays on all the time, even without the key! (A sort of direct contact with the battery I imagine?) At least it allowed me to see that the screen works perfectly: the GPS, the cameras and the Bluetooth in particular… and that’s already something!

But as soon as I turn on the ignition: every 25 seconds: “NO BUS”! When I unplug the small CANBUS box that comes with the screen, no more problems... except that the sound doesn't work and the screen is not/no longer connected to the car...

So I'm calling on your experiences:

Do you think this could come from a "bridging" on the jeep at this level? Has this already happened to any of you or do you have any idea of the origin of the failure?

In my country we says : "je tourne en rond!" I'm going around in circles ?? :)) ... I've looked everywhere but I haven't found anything similar... It's given to be plug and play...

If I found nothing, I'll go to jeep, even if they themselves had advised me to buy on aliexp rather than going through them...

Thanks for reading me!

See you soon;

Guillaume

If you have not already done so, you should post a new thread in the "Give Us A Wave" area, and introduce yourself.

It seems like the CANBUS interfacing is not right, such as maybe the bridging module or supplied cable has an issue. Or maybe some setup needs to be done in the new panel to interface properly on the CANBUS based on the year or configuration of your Jeep. You should talk to the product manufacturer again in case they are not aware of your latest status

aftermarket radios require a separate interface module to work with the canbus and other existing items like steering wheel audio control, subwoofer, etc...

Thank you for your answers. The seller offers to send me a new electrical connection harness for the screen. I am a little skeptical. but I will try anyway... Here is what I currently have as a connector in the photo.
