We were pitched solar by 3 different companies and ultimately decided not to, mainly because of the separate loan, interest, and not planning to be in this house for more than 10 years, I didn’t see the value in the home to equal the 20k it would have cost, One thing I found interesting was I got 3 different costs for essentially the same thing, not terribly far off, but around 20k, but my neighbor got a quote from one of the companies for 60k for the same system/batteries ect, but then told me his bill is about 3x mine a month, he has 4 kids, a pool, ect. So these companies are just making your payment the “same” as your bill so it sounds good, they work the #s, i can see the value In it based on what the total cost is and how expensive energy is, one of my old bosses went solar and paid 45k but his electric bill was already 600 a month in CA, and with the rate of inflation and him planning to die in that house it made sense, regardless it wasn’t for us for several reasons, and I hate paying these high gas prices, but I can buy a lot of gas for my current car for what an electric one runs these days..
