What type of trout is that?
Tiger trout…hybrid between a brown & brook…this a splake; hybrid between a lake trout and a brookWhat type of trout is that?
Here's one from this past Friday. After work. 16 miles from my house. It's bitter sweet though, since the little river is one of the hardest places I've ever fished because it is usually a zoo with guides and "extreme" fly guys. But in the early season when no one wants to be out there fishing the high flows and cold weather with size 18 and 16 nymphs this is what you can get. Hooked 4 in 8 casts with two to the net. She's chunky:View attachment 425811
Yellow eye rockfish…you are only allowed two per year now, since they grow so slowlyA couple of weeks ago I came across some photos from a trip in the '80s. These are some of the people I worked with in the '80s. They would put together a few charter trips a year.

100%. I have a 2wt 6' rod, a 2wt 7' rod, a 3wt 7.5' rod, and all the usual suspects up to a 9.5' 6wt. The 2 and 3 weights and the 6 weight get the most use. The 9.5' 6wt can roll cast a heavy double nymph rig with weights and an indicator without even blinking. But I still prefer the little creeks. Especially the ones that not to many people know about. Though, those are hard to find in Northern California. While I love fishing the large western freestones and tailwaters, I equally love fishing tiny streams you can hop across…I pulled a half dozen nice bows from this tiny stream near Antimony UT last month
