Evo bolt on coilover install

When the bushings blow they don't fall out. In fact my upper front control arm has a blown bushing but I just haven't had time to fix it.

And if you can believe it, is hasn't changed my ride quality or limit my flex.

To be clear, blown out bushings will REDUCE the amount of bind your TF joints once had

I did too. Had to go back and look. I thought you deleted your avatar and were going bat shit crazy.

That's funny. No I'm still sane today! Sucks when someone starts shit with almost same screen name. I feel like my identity was stolen!

If you want, I can change your avatar just for added effect :D

Why? Do you have a problem with Synergy? Are they banned here? Is there history? Why is that so hilarious? I have used RK arms, have used ROKMEN JJ arms, but have not used any others. I have been intrigued by Metalcloak arms and the Synergy joints were then mentioned, and some pics posted (I think on JKO). You sure seem to be very sensitive about this, and I have no idea why that is cheesy.

Yes, I have a problem with Synergy. They have ridden on the coat tails of other people's R&D for some of their stuff. I don't care if they design a suspension that has 30" of actual travel and can give me a blowjob at the end of the day...they have ripped off other people's work. F#%k Synergy!

The MC joints are for the most part, brand new. Give it some time and if people who have them are honest enough about the products they run, you'll see more.

Not always, if they send out free replacements ASAP like teraflex for the most part people will not say much.

Do you remember the brand new teraflex long arm kit with blown bushings at Moab? That owners never said anything, yet still praises how great his long arm kit is.

Rock Krawler, EVO, Teraflex, Synergy (I kid, I kid!), Johnnie Joints. Anyone else?

Hands down, TeraFlex joints suck!! I've run their arms with their joints and blew so many joints out that I started carrying a rebuild kit with me. Over the years, I have seen so many more blow out on other peoples rigs that I not only kept carrying the kit, I starting carry bushing kits too (this is back when I was still talking to them and they would send boxes of them to me).

Rock Krawler axle end joints are okay but I have seen where the adjustable collar can work themselves free. Not that big of a deal so long as you can keep an eye on them and check them as a part of routine maintenance but, more than I would prefer to be concerned with. Their frame side joints are just old school polyurethane and I really hate them being that they can be real squeaky. A lot of kits use them and while they work fine and the squeaks can be mitigated with frequent greasing, there are better solutions out there for sure.

Johnny Joints are not only what I prefer, they are what professional Ultra4 racers prefer as well. That and uniballs. They have been developed by Currie, a company that WINS races and time has proven them to perform well and be extremely durable. IF they need to be rebuilt, kits cost about $5 - dirt cheap. Since I've been running them on my white JK, I have yet to have a single problem with them in spite of the miles and trails I have abused them on over the last 4 years.

EVO does not make joints.

:cheesy: You speak the truth my son. Clearly, you have been around Jeepers and worse, forums for a long long time

Well yeah, he got the kit for half off just because he was a moderator and still get free stuff from them. Why would he say anything bad about them  :idontknow:  :D

Fair enough. Ripping off someone's design is simply low-life stuff. Some of you have been in Jeeping a long time and know a lot of the history. I bought my first Jeep in 2012, so Jeeps and the Jeep aftermarket industry is relatively new to me.

I know who now. :D

Oh, other joints would include Clevite bonded rubber bushings. They can be found on stock control arms and on a lot of aftermarket companies like to use them for frame side joints. Doing a test on them at Off Road Evolution, we found them to be surprisingly resilient and durable. Sure, they had bound up when flexing but, not enough to limit big travel. If there is a down side to them it's that big flex will cause them to blow out prematurely.

Another joint would be an FK rod end and they are what Full Traction uses. This is an amazingly strong and bind free joint. NO joint can compare to the amount of rotation this joint or its equivalent, a uniball can provide. Because they are essentially metal to metal, there is ZERO absorption of road noise but, having tested them out on my JK, I can tell you that you really can't feel that much of a difference.

Clevites are $5-$10 to replace. The FK heims are also race proven and a badass joint. . After the EVO MFG kit, Full Traction would be the next suspension in line I would run.

EVO MFG does run the heim at the frame side upper control arm,

As far as EVO was concerned, I was thinking about the picture where the head had broken off of the control arm in the MC failure photos.

If you look at the EVO control arms, you will see that their axle end joints are zinc plated. These are Johnny Joints made by Currie and installed in their arms. On the frame side, EVO does weld on builder Johnny Joints but, they have real welders that know what they're doing.

I don't, but I'd like to.

I've asked a few of my industry friends including EVO and every single one of them said the same thing, the joint looked to be poorly welded. So, even if they are now using a forged joint, I would still have to wonder how strong the rest of their welded components are.
