They just rotate. Grab a pair of pliers if they are stuck. From the side closest to the grill, grab the top of it and pull counterclockwise and it should come off, no tape.

Happy Jeep now! Your right. What a difference the angry eyes and that type of look made when taken off. It really does set a different tone out on the road. My Jeep waves have increased by 25% at least now with them gone. I wouldn’t have put those one myself. Idk why the previous owner did. Anyways... love it! Going to buy my son a Jeep for his 1st car this year, he wants an Islander.
