Ellis Lake - East Side! (Of the Rubicon)

I just completed the rubicon trail with my rig, first time running the trail. 2013 JKU sport with 35" 2.5 lift, I have locker in the rear but didn't use. Sliders are a must.. Very doableView attachment 87717View attachment 87718

I assume you have the 3.73 axle. Did you have to upgrade to a 4.10 or 4.56 to run the 35" tires? Looks like sports are more capable than many people think!

I re-geared to 4.88 about a month ago and gusseted the front axle. My buddy broke his driver side axle on his tocoma, and he limped it to rubicon springs. We left the truck there and we, in my jeep, crawled up Cadillac Hill, drive to Tahoe city to pick up parts, drove back down Cadillac Hill, fixed his axle with the help of a guy we met in the trail, then drove back up and out if Cadillac hill in the dark and out to south Tahoe, total of 13 hours for that rescue mission. LoL, I did Cadillac hill 3 times that day, for my first time at the Rubicon. I would say the sports are more than capable if set up correctly.

I'd definitely like to.

I may be doing the Gold Lake area in a couple weeks. It's a little more moderate than this trail. Beautiful and fun though!

I'd be interested in tagging along. Haven't had a chance to get out yet and it's driving me nuts. Let me know when you think you're going :thumb:

More the merrier! For Gold Lake I think we are going to head out Thursday the 26th and camp a couple nights back there. Probably camp at Little Deer Lake. From there a couple day trips doing the other trails in the area.

Work has me tied up this week. Won't be able to make it out on Thursday, but hope to get out with you guys soon.
