I noticed Eddie and a few others have a skid plate for the spare tire that connects to the hitch receiver. Is that custom or can I buy one online? Its simple and functional.

It's a custom thing. Trail Bud had one made for himself and made one for us as a gift.

From the ones ive seen and talked to people about its just custom made... aka 2" steel box tubing cut at an angle and welded back together for a rear stinger

That's awesome. I have to put something together and add this to my jeep before our trip to rausch. My spare sits low because I use the stock carrier just the teraflex HD hinge.

That's what I'm afraid of. I don't want to get the teraflex tire carrier as we all know why....

This one is mine. Had a friend make it for me. Added a wider skid plate to it. It has saved me plenty of times.

Brilliant idea pretty simple concept that can be played around with different setups and functions can be stretched for a quick and easy step into the bed, for me it would be perfect for all those great drivers in flushing queens and Brooklyn. They'd think twice about parking real close. I have a hook there now and it saved me a couple of times.

I have to look into that. It's a cheap investment to more serious damage.

I was concerned about hitting the spare tire on the ground with the CC body mount carrier when going up steep or dropping off. Well have to say that I have done both now and it's still hanging. But if I could keep from dragging my spare on terra by adding one of these just when wheeling it might be worth it even at $189.
