East Meets West: Moab and Ouray August 1-9, 2020

Found my front locker leak!

All I can think of was that I melted it welding the evo sliders on the frame. Somehow it lasted for Moab in May, the rubicon and fordyce in July, and half of Moab again this month. It was a slow leak the first day... Big leak the last day in Colorado!
I heard it purging on the escalator. Glad you found it.

At least it was simple.

No kidding! I ordered a full install kit as a spare. Also got 4 splices for the new 6mm line.

As I was laying on my back at the top of Poughkeepsie Gulch messing with the air line in the frame... I was like... WTF am I going to do if I get it pulled out? I don't have any parts to fix it. Put it on the list!

I have been working on a bigger spare parts list. I got 6mm couplers, and a couple of 1/8 NPT x 6mm 90 degree fittings, one to use and one for a spare.
I'm adding upper and lower radiator hoses, and while typing this realize I need to add some heater hose and clamps as well.
I also picked up a thermostat with housing, fan belt, 2 idler pulleys, and a belt tensioner. Crank position sensor, front and rear wheel speed sensors.

What else am I missing on this list?

It was killing me being "that guy" holding up the run with my broken shit.

You had a lot more stuff than we did! I appreciate the use of your grinder and tiger paw. Spare unit bearing for Josh. Nice riding with you, Jerry!

I totally get it, We will all have that day on the trail. It’s just part of building and pushing these Jeeps as far as we do. And whether it’s yours or someone else’s, it’s great when we all come together as a group diving into a repair to get the Jeep back on the trail.

At least it was cooler up in the mountains working on Jerry’s verses my electrical issue on top of poison spider at 120 degrees. Damn that was hot.

The whole time there I was thinking two things, one Wes "I'm sure glad we aren't still in Moab at 110 degrees" and the other was "I'm sure glad this wasn't yesterday on Black Bear Pass"

If you have to break down, pick a good place to do it.

I couldn’t imagine doing something like that on the switch backs on Black Bear.

The height not the problem. That constant cold wind is a big no thank you. Just glad Andy didn’t have his brake issues on something like Black Bear like he did at Rausch.

Yeah, like that JKX run where that happened. No thank you.

Back when I was a contractor I carried a 10x10 popup canopy for when I had to setup in a driveway, then space in the truck became a premium. I switched up to a tarp, bungee balls to attach to my rack, some aluminum telescoping poles, and shock cord anchored to a toolbox or bag.

Good idea there. Having something to shade you from the sun or even rain would be a great relief.
