Dumb question

...it didn't do anything so figured it (tap shift) was disabled when in 4lo??

Oh I know it will work on an auto that's what I was talking about lol I have an auto. I ment dropping it all the way down to 1. I have a 2011 so I don't have the fancy bump shift lol

Saddle - I just assumed it would work... can't really remember, but I'm pretty sure I used it 2 weeks ago....

cozdude - I gotcha now, with the bump shift you don't get to shift past D, I assume you have PRND21?

Yes you would be correct. Can't you bump it into manual then down to 1 tho?

When you push it left it engages the 'manual' system and displays your current gearing. then left to downshift, right to upshift.

here's a quick clip that isn't mine: 0:25 demo

He was kind of wrong when he said "it goes into first" what he meant was "since I'm at a stand still it is in first"

Haha, didn't even know I had that feature until you posted that, just went out and saw the button.

Is there a way to use the bump shift option when in 4lo? I'd like to be able to shift up when on longer runs vs. waiting for it to rev up and do it automatically but when I've tried it didn't do anything so figured it (tap shift) was disabled when in 4lo??

Of course I could go dig out the owners manual and probably find out too, ;)

It will only allow you to bump shift it up one gear above the current gear that the transmission is actually in until your RPMs do come up enough to deem it to be in another gear. I. E. if you are at a complete stop and you bump shift it to 1st gear it will only allow you to bump shift up to 2nd gear until you get enough RPMs to be in 2nd or 3rd. So while you do have to gain some RPMs from the motor it doesn't wait until its bouncing off of the rev limiter for you to be able to up shift. I believe that it does make the motor gain more RPMs before it automatically shifts when the bump shift feature is engaged because it "thinks" you are playing or whatever so you would probably want it to hold more RPMs before the next shift. I didn't pay enough attention to mine the last time I was playing to verify that though so if I'm wrong somebody correct me.

I've stalled enough standard vehicles while playing that I don't want another standard vehicle for play. I will admit that it was probably 90% due to operator error as well as not properly equipped vehicle such as deeper gears. To each their own, I just want an auto for play from now on.
