Dual exhaust and cold air intake upgrade

Hi All,
Did some research on both dual exhaust and cold air intake upgrades for JL and couldn't find any strong arguments towards one or another, except looks and sound.
After "before and after" tests, owners claim they didn't see mileage or power improvements. It just sounds a bit tougher, which they noticed with just cold air intake upgrade and looks (exhaust). Want to hear opinion of WAYALIFE crowd. What you guys think? Is it worth it? Anyone noticed or heard of performance improvement? If yes, which brand/model?

Thank You

My opinion: Not worth the money. As far as the air intake, you may see a horsepower improvement on a Dyno printout, but it won't be much. Exhaust is all about the sound. Unless you pull the cats, which is federally illegal, no HP gains. You've also got to think, these manufacturer engineers really do try to get a perfect balance between horsepower and economy. Stock is preferred in my opinion. This is coming from a guy that loves to modify vehicles and has done many builds in the past (non Jeep) with aftermarket intakes and exhausts. Also, if you still have warranty, factory can void it with any mod like that.

I've tried the AFE CAI on the JLU but found getting filters to be an expensive PIA even if they are washable; took it off and put the factory airbox back in. No HP, torque gains that I could feel unless they were measuring how quickly it emptied my wallet...

I like being able to walk into an auto parts store and get a filter.

^^^^ this

The manufacturer spent a ton of time and money developing the stock intake and exhaust. I did do a cat back exhaust on mine but it was primarily done to get rid of the big stock muffler because they’re easily damaged wheeling.

I don’t trust the gauze filters used on most of the intake kits, they’re fine for a pavement princess but the stock paper filters do a better job protecting your engine in the dust

If you have the diesel or turbo 4 banger I could see potential gains with intake and exhaust IF you are modifying the engine or turbo and tuning.
