Discount Tire web site security problem

But the key to this is you must open, install or allow entry at some point. This is a true statement but if you never allow malware or any "ransom ware" to be installed it doesn't matter what you do. This can be a PDF that's not really a PDF or just another "hey look at me" Popup. Just got give you a clue when I write things to capture information or gain access I typically put the code in the cancel or close button. How many people click that instead of "ok" ;)

Just saying...

Oh no you didn't just go all cyber security on this thread. We're just dumb jeepers here. :nah: 😉

Nope :bleh: but hopefully someone learns not to click cancel or close and just kill the browser another way :thumb:

But honestly not a lot of people know even "normal" docs can contain stuff. Just thought I would point out some small tips.

I would be less worried about the Internet and more worried about the 16 year old kid that is carrying the skimmer in his backpack walking through the mall. They only have to be within 18" to get your stuff. Gotta love technology lol.

And I'm just a dumb skydiver how smart could I be :cheesy:

Yup. But it's got to be the one site noted though right. 😉

Good looking out though J!

Actually it doesn't. It depends on how it's written. Once it's on your computer who knows what it's trigger is. It could have a timer, goal, trigger, etc. but all that really doesn't matter unless you give it access. :D

Sorry, forgot to use the sarcasm font...

#itmustbetheonesitenotedbyOP;)

Lol. Anyways, many factors can trigger like you said. Goes back to my original retort in being sure before making the accusation.

But wait there's more...JK :cheesy: yes you are correct.

Not to "derail" this awesome thread…

But I have a question for you internet savvy people…

So I kept getting emailed by this Nigerian prince. At first I thought it was a scam, but he was pretty persistent AND convincing. All I had to do was give him my SS#, DOB, CC#, security code on the back of the card, override the credit card fraud prevention system via phone and my mother's maiden name, and he was going to transfer $1,000,000 to my account. Needeless to say I thought this sounded legit! I'm pretty sure this is how Crippledpetty made his fortune, financed two $80,000 jeep builds, doesn't work and learned so much about the internet. :yup:

Anyway, I'm just looking for some reassurance that I made the right move. It's been 48 hour since I've heard from my Nigerian prince, but he assured me that if I do not check my accounts for 60+ hours it would be best…don't want to tip off the snoopy authorities after all. ;)

So am I good? :idontknow:

That's exactly how I did it. Thanks for sharing my secret. Who knows maybe I'll become a lawyer next. I hear that takes up all your time so you can't wheel though, so I doubt it.

The latter is definitely true. It's a hard way to make a decent living. Looking for my way out though. Glad I'm now on to something, just got to sweat it our for another 12 hours. :thumb: ;)

You could always become a gold miner. Problem is 99% of people that gold mine can't make a living out of it. You would probably end up starving to death.

And one should always return those phone calls from the IRS saying you owe money and are ask risk for jail if you do not respond to the following number.

You know this is legit because the IRS will always call. And, the IRS outsources this to its call center in India.

😂😂😂👍👍👍

Lol. No sorry. I don't think you can cut it down here. Its to hard of work, and if all you have is a pan your in real trouble.

But I have a beard and overalls? What if I bring a drill and a backhoe? Hard work doesn't bother me…I usually put in 12+ most of which is in a chair, but I do have a stand up desk that I try to utilize daily.

That sweeten the pot for ya at all? :idontknow:

Oh and I don't do underground.
