Dana 44 front chromoly axle shafts

Now that you guys are talking about the 44 vs the 60, I have been looking at getting this for my YJ. I still have the stock axles on it, Dana 35 in the rear, 3.23 gears, no lockers. Bone stock. I want to build this up to do some heavy rock crawling and this comes complete.

Worth it? I have done all of the installs on my YJ, however I had never messed with the drivetrain.

This is for sure on my list to buy next year or so.... Buying the stuff to beef up the stock and roll it over to the aftermarket dana saves me the heart ache.

And should the factory components poop out, will the front PR44 housing be upgradable in the future to newer ARB lockers, Shafts, etc?

And what about when the rear components give way. Any issues mixing and matching at that point. My rear locker was already replaced once, so I'm sure it's only a matter of time before it goes again.

PR44 comes with ARB's as an option so yes it's able to be upgraded.

You need to make a decision up front. The PR44 diff housing is ordered for either ARB or e-locker. If you go e locker you can use you stock d44 parts, BUT.. You can't go to ARB.

My understanding is you can have e locker on one and ARB on another. Ramin currently has that set up.

This was what I was thinking. ^^^ I thought they were slightly different set up, but couldn't remember.

Can a stock rear rubi 44 be converted to ARB? Or would the whole thing need to be replaced with say a PR60 to do that?

Yes you can put an ARB Locker in a Dana 44.

If you order the PR44 that can use an E-locker be warned that when it comes time to switch to an ARB locker you will have to use the ARB locker that fits in the stock 44 housing. This is a different locker than the one that is used in the PR44, built for an ARB. The ARB locker that is used in the stock 44 housing is not as strong as the locker used in the PR44, built for an ARB.

I would've done the same, I'll only regret if I ever have a problem with future ARB Locker. Then again it was only a few more thousand on top of everything else!
