Cross country trip

I'm most likely going to head to the West Coast in a few weeks to visit family. I'm gonna take the Wrangler. It has the 2 inch Mopar lift, bumpers, winch, and 35s. Nothing too crazy. I have a few inches of tire poke too from thr stock fenders in my 2020 Wrangler. Had anyone ever had any issue from the local law enforcement? WV doesn't even require fender flares. They just started that law. I run them, but my point is they are pretty lax.

I’ve traveled across the United States with 40” tires that stick out way past the fenders and can tell you that most state troopers will leave you alone if you have out of state tags. There are always exceptions to the rule but even then, most will let you off with a warning so long as you keep it cool.

Awesome! I appreciate it. I want to visit the family and hit some desert roads while I'm out there.

I don't know which route you plan to take, but while crossing Wyoming, the wind can be BRUTAL!
Driving west can be a real problem. The Windy app or web site will show if there is a problem.

60+ mph gusts, 20-30 mph head-winds, and dust storms are a real probability. Sometimes it is dense fog (with 20ft visibility) rather than dust.

If your jeep's MPG reading was usually 21 or 24, then it can be concerning when it is only 13. The cabin noise level rises dramatically when driving into the wind.

Make sure to keep the gas tank full since gas stations are less plentiful in the west, and you will appreciate that you did so when your fuel economy goes into the shitter.

Enjoy your trip!

Yeah the gas station is a real thing. I'm originally from the Mojave desert so I know the pain. I'm hoping for decent weather. I'm going to carry a spare 5 gallons of gas for just in case.
