Cordless Tools Thread

totally unrelated subject - what are your thoughts on this weedwhacker? Want another one? Mine lasts like 20 feet before the battery shits the bed - and I use the big M18 batteries on it.

LOL - honestly, I've had it for years and it's worked great for for me. I have both the weedwhacking and the edging attachments. Thinking about getting the extended chain saw trimmer attachment next and maybe even the cultivator.

EDIT, I mostly use the turtle speed and it's more than enough to get the job done. The rabbit speed is powerful but kinda overkill. Every now and then, I'll come across something that needs more power and I'll switch to rabbit but just for it and then I go back to turtle.

I just bought that yesterday! 😳 I bought it with extension and the 10” chainsaw attachment to clean up my Fn neighbors tree branches that they won’t touch.

I also bought the high capacity 18v batteries because I’m converting to Milwaukee impacts and drills… because I have a friend that admonished me for bringing a Makita impact on the trail. 🤣

I’ll go against the grain. I hate it. Too heavy on the back with a big battery that is worth anything. Doesn’t last at all and the trigger pull just doesn’t feel right. I use it now as a last resort if I need something quick but not very much. I’d be surprised if it lasted around my whole house on one 8.0 battery, about 300 feet.

To your point, I supposed it’s relative to how much work you have to do on your property.

I picked up two of these and hoping they’ll hold up.

Milwaukee’s battery game has gone downhill lately in my opinion. I have a battery that is toast that came with my big hammer drill and it died within 6 months. Since it came as a kit you have to send the entire thing back. Retarded.
I had the 9.0 batteries... they both failed after a year.... wouldn't charge. Stepped down to the 6.0... no issues.

Isn't a gas powered Stihl cordless? I have the battery powered Stihl blower with their AK20 batteries. I get about 10 mins of run time from each. Not long but for my small yard and garage it works. I only got it because the local AQMD offered a trade in for gas powered tools. My gas blower was a POS that I bought used for $25. I figured why not. I've heard the battery powered mower and string trimmer suck so unless something has changed I'd stay away from Stihl electric tools. Wonder how all the CA gardeners are doing since you can no longer buy gas powered yard equipment in this ridiculous state.

Was anyone arguing that a gas powered tool isn’t cordless?

Yeah I have a big stihl for most of it but 300 feet is not much.
What Stihl do you have? I have a couple of KM91Rs. Recently I bought some brushcutter sawblades for it but in the instructions it says that my tool needs a bunch of additions/features in order to be safe with those blades. The Stihl with almost all those features costs $750!

Oh, and I know that this is the cordless tools thread, but it does not have a cord. 🤣

The FS111 or FS131. Can't remember.
