CJ buggy build

I took my front axle to a local shop to have the inner C's put on. Wasn't confident that I could get the caster angle the same on both sides. Assembled the kingpins and put the knuckles on.IMG_20170407_203259860.jpgIMG_20170407_203259860.jpg pressing in the outer race for the lower kingpin.IMG_20170407_203844221.jpg lower kingpinIMG_20170407_203720331.jpgupper kingpin.IMG_20170407_204614658.jpg bearing and pressed in bearing seal.IMG_20170407_204604970.jpgIMG_20170407_213837481.jpg

The rear axle is finished with welding. I changed the design of the role cage. I'm going to build the from the outside in. I bent the 'a' and roof support and fast back out of the same tube. They're in-between the axle and seats in the picture.IMG_20170407_214403532.jpg

I built the front control arms but I think I got the tube adapters a little too hot. Just three rod ends would thread in with out too much trouble. I got a left and right hand 1.5" x 12 taps to fix the problem.IMG_20170504_122813608.jpg

Glad you fixed it, but did you let the metal fully cool before attempting to thread it?
I tried when they were still a little warm, didn't thread all the way by hand. I tried again the next day and only got three to thread in. There was a lot of chips on the tap when it came out. I think the weld penetrated too deep and deformed the threads. Guess I have a lead foot when it comes to Tig welding lol.

I should be getting back to working on the project soon. Been busy working on the house and helping friends. Baboozle asked to help change caster angle for his brother's frankinwillies. IMG_20170531_193000509.jpg. I took the old seats and cut out the floor, both were really bad. I'm waiting on my new seats to get here to finish the cage and start shock mounting. They got back ordered.
