Bump steer issue

Caught the Bug
Jeep was at the Shop over the weekend.

Just swapped out axles.

But I added a Rough Country Front Track Bar bracket, Right hand drive tierod. Drilled and sleeves the knuckle.

No steering Stabilizer yet. Havent swapped it over yet.

The front Track bar I have is a RE one, but its to long. It has the axle shoved over about an 1in.

The Rough Country bracket says to be used with a factory track bar.

Shop is saying it has horrible bump steer.

Shop went over all the bolts and checked everything. Shop thinks its the curves in the bar causing the wrong angle.

Any help would be great.

I also noticed when swapping the axles. My 2011 Dana 20 had square Slots on the lower control arm mounts, but the 2015 Rubicon axle just had a hole.

First of all, you probably didn't need to flip your drag link... You need to raise the track bar to get it parallel to it now.

Secondly, get it out of that shop because they obviously don't know what the fuck they're doing.

I Flipped the draglink and raised the track bar.
 
I see the flip and the raise but I also see what baddest cross is saying. Do you happen to have a dropped pitman arm on it? You need a factory pitman arm
 
I don’t trust any shop, especially today. I agree with the guys, you track bar axle mount could be higher. Secondly, you need to go torque everything yourself. If there’s play on the components, it can create that problem. Thirdly, are these guys familiar with Jeeps. I’d drive it myself to see what they consider bump steer

I bought the Jeep already lifted. I don't think it has a drop pitman arm. It looks factory.

I did torque everything myself.
I haven't had a chance to drive it myself thou.
The shop specializes in JK Jeeps.
 
The angle between the drag link and track bar look substantial in the pictures. If I'm visualizing things correctly, a shorter track bar would cause the angle of the track bar to steepen more quickly than the drag link (I could be wrong, though). You will have to get an appropriately sized track bar for other reasons, but I don't think it'll magically fix the bump steer. I suspect something else is wrong.

Eyeballing the angles, it looks like an unflipped draglink would be closer to parallel with the track bar. This makes me think the previous owner put a drop pitman arm on. I'd double check it. If it has more than an inch or so of drop to it, it's a drop pitman arm.

Otherwise, maybe the steering wheel was a full rotation driver when the drag link was centered. This would pull the drag link to the driver side, causing it to look considerably longer than it should and with a flatter angle. If this were the case, though, you wouldn't be able to make any tight turns towards the driver side. I would imagine that traction control would have a constant panic attack while driving, too. I think this is quite unlikely, but might be worth checking.
 
Ok I got the Jeep Back and swapped Track bars.

I checked the angles and they are on with in a degree or 2 of each other. track bar and drag link.

Took it for a test drive and did better. Still needs an alignment. My Toe is off.

My Traction control light was still going nuts, but only on hard right turns. I noticed my rear drivers tire had a slight wobble that was new. My Flange was bent. Was thinking that it was hitting my brakes and that was the cause of the TC light.

Swapped it out and its straight now, but the light still flashes at times and tries to auto correct. Makes it squirrelly when that happens.

I have an appointment Tuesday at the Alignment shop.
 
New track bar is in. Everything is centered up now. Just have to get it aligned now.

On my old axles LCA mounts. They had a Slot and my new ones don't have that adjustments. So I ether make a slot or get adjustable LCAs. Or I guess Geometry Drop Brackets. Not sure which is the Best way. It's a Daily Driver and I'll wheel it 10-12 times a year.

Are the LCA's adjustable aftermarket ones? I would assume the slots were for adjusting caster, adjustable arms will do same thing
 
No their not adjustable.
I would do some DIY alignment before I slotted the brackets... Maybe they won't need it, but if they do you will know which direction to start cutting.

Adjustable arms seem like a more solid way of aligning a straight axle, I would assume a slotted bracket would be far more vulnerable to getting bumped out of whack
