Browns Camp-PNW! April 11th

Got the Jeep cleaned up enough today to throw it on the lift and low and behold both of my locker air lines were run a little too close to the exhaust cats and they both got soft enough to blow a hole in them when I was running up Waterfall. Apparently I was on it pretty hard and got the exhaust pretty hot and without moving and no airflow the lines just got too hot, funny thing though it sounded exactly like it was coming from the diffs until it was up on the lift with the fill plugs pulled. Fronts fixed now, rear will be when I get the other part I need this week, not such a bad day and I got to see what my Jeep would do without lockers.

That's good to hear. I was pretty sure it sounded outside of the diff.

And of course they were both in spots you can hardly get to, well spare tubing and connectors in the parts kit from now on, lesson learned.

Can you use metal tubing near the exhaust? Or find a way to attach the tubing to the tub to keep it away from the heat?

I have some ceramic flexible tubing with a silicone liner that I am running it through for the front and the rear has a heat shield right above where I need to go with room on the other side for the tubing, I will keep a close eye on it after this and if it looks like its an issue I will replace those sections with some 3/16 stainless tubing I have.

Good luck!

And I like the pictures shown here. Wheeling around the nation, and elsewhere, is worthy of the bucket list.

I've had this same thing happen to my air line near the exhaust on my old truck. For that reason- I carry spare line and push connect unions. Too bad I wasn't there with those spare parts! Next time. And I switched out those sections to copper.

No more family outings for you, need to keep you around on these trips, lol. I should have had the spares with me, I had them at home and just plain didn't think about it, they are included now. Hope you had a good family weekend and since the house is selling maybe there is a new 4dr. with your name on it in the near future.

Didn't wash the jeep Saturday night when I got home, just too tired, so I just pulled it in the shop and left it for the night. When I went out sunday morning, there was a complete ring around the jeep on the floor of dried up dirt clods that had dried up and fallen off, must have been 75lbs of dirt, looked like it had been stoned with dirt clods. Ended up with another 75lbs of dirt and mud in my driveway after just rinsing it off before actually washing it. I probably have a complete Tillamook ecosystem developing a new forest in my driveway.

That's too funny. I'm exhausted after too long day. That's my project today to clean Clark up, but I may just find a cold beer instead.

I spent about 3hrs on just the outside of the Jeep yesterday and about another 30min washing the dirt down the driveway! Man, you guys have a different kind of dirt and mud up there!! :)

Glad to hear your lockers were a quick fix!

Yeah, we have this thing up here called rain, it's water that comes from the sky, and it fills these big holes called reservoirs, I know, coming from California its hard to believe, but its like all the time and mixes with the heavy clay dirt here and makes it stick like glue, lol

Glad you guys made it home safe and in time to meet your deadline today and by the way, I'm still only half done cleaning

Lol! It's been quite a while since we've seen rain down here!

Wait? I thought your wife was taking the kids to school in it today.

That was the original plan, but now I'm travelling for work today tomorrow and then again on Friday. Figured I would get a jump on cleaning. The interior is a wreck still, but at least got the exterior knocked out.

As a side note, what do you guys usually use to get the mud stains out of the fenders? I'm currently using 303 Aerospace and it is getting about 80-90% of the mud stains out, but there are still a few stubborn stains left behind.

I ended up with a flat. Does les schwab fix them if its from off road. Or do u think they will say i need to buy a new 1
