Black bear pass, co

My first time on this trail was when I was about 6 or 7 in the back of my parents '79 Blazer. It was a pretty tight fit but it seems less scary now. Maybe the trees are taller. I wanna try this trail the one time per year when it's run backwards. That would be fun!

I made the mistake of showing the wife the portion of Eddies video of Black Bear and she threatened divorce if I tried to take her down that road.
Looks like I'm gonna have to go solo.

Lmao. Good thing I don't have to worry about that... Hopefully I will be able to do Black Bear Pass this summer! :thumb:

My wife just gets out and walks down Black Bear. We both get to see the view and we both are happy.

Haha!! This trail was my wife's very first off-roading experience. We had only been married two years and she said she wanted to try an off-roading vacation. She did beautifully that day!! I guess I got lucky. [emoji6]

What months are this road typically open?

Also, anyone seen this photo before? This supposedly is on Black Bear. Hands down, this guy has to be the craziest bastard on the planet.

I would like to know the outcome after this photo was taken. If you look about 4-5 feet in front. It seems the trail is no longer wide enough for him. Scary

That is one scary pic. Love to know if that is a real picture. If so that personal has some nuts!!

I am really considering doing this.

Beautiful!

Sent the link to my Fiance, she's down for a road trip.., so its officially on the list! :thumb: Love this forum for that! :dont_tell:

Make sure to check out Durango and if you can mesa verde national park. If you happen to play golf both courses in Durango are pretty sweet. There's also an awesome place to eat called James Ranch right outside Durango.

This is a pic of Black Bear 40+ years ago. It's been bladed and widened over the years. Even so it is scary to the max. Definitely not a challenging trip with major obstacles except for the ones in the cab. A JKU will probably need to do four point turns on a couple of the switchbacks. I did it once in a '78 GMC SWB. One and done.
