Best Trail Runs of 2013

I would say the Corral Canyon run Overlander took me on was the best this year showed me what my jeep is capable of in pretty much stock form, also met some fellow wayalifer's

Really only got one good trip in at the end of the year.
Spent the beginning of the year on planning my move from Mississippi to Utah.
Got to go wheel at Sand Hollow and it was amazing compared to what I was use to back east. Absolutely love it out here.

Meeting up at the trail head.

Was rainy and slick this day.

Hello Wayalifers:standing wave: just wanted say how much I enjoy reading the forum and finally decided write my first post. My favorite trail run of 2013 was Gemini Bridges/Bull Canyon/Long Canyon in Moab. Nothing extreme by any means but still fun and gave me a small idea of what Jeeps are capable of. On this run I was actually driving a rental Jeep, next time I come back to Moab I will drive my own Jeep out there once I get some more Mods done so I can tackle some harder Trails. We had perfect weather and a great time getting away from all the crowds in town.

Must say my favorite runs of the year were the ones where I was able to take the kids (or wife and kids) out on the trail with me. After all, that is the main reason for getting a Jeep in the first place. So my top five are all family included Jeep adventures.

KOH - Honorable mention
Not with the family this trip and didn't wheel anything in my Jeep. But it was an awesome few days out in Johnson Valley with some really great people.

5) Kick Off run
My first run with Wayalife. :thumb: Got a chance to meet a lot people, many of whom are now good friends. :yup:

4) Berdoo Canyon
Ran this trail twice in a month. Once with the family and another time with some fellow Wayalifers. Nice easy trail with some good sights along the way.

3) Pilot Rock
This was an impromptu run scheduled the night before at about 10:45/11:00 pm. Wanted to take the kids out, but didn’t want to go out solo. Good thing ttfhell thought it was a random bootie call or this trip may not have happened. :cheesy: While ttfhell would rather have had a different caller, we did have a good time on the trail and we got to climb a few rocks.

2) Newbie run 2013 – Last Chance Canyon
Finally got a chance to wheel with folks I’d met and shared beers with at many SNGs throughout the year. Talk about a full day trip. Left the house about 5:45 am and got back close to about 8:00 pm. And the best part, was not a single complaint from the family.

1) Road to Hana - Maui
I mean really…how could this not be my number one. Rented a Jeep in Maui for a week and headed out on the famous Road to Hana for a full-day trip. While many stop at the typical tourist places, we went a little off the grid thanks to research by my wife on the “hidden” sights of Hana. Talk about “more than a jeep!” I could easily share dozens of pics from this one-day adventure.

Dude your bootie was fine👍 That road to Hana is a once in a lifetime trip. Cause if you do it once not many will do it again. It is freaking beautiful though.

Don't make me blush. 😉Lol.

As for Hana. We saw a ton of cars and vans and even tours. 😁 Only way to do it is a convertible or in our case a t top jeep with front sections off. Otherwise it can quickly become just a windy road. Also "must" have the Maui Revealed book. So much awesome stuff way beyond the tourist BS. Only because of these two things, I'd do it again.

My favorite trail runs of 2013 would have to be,

Mojave desert
Odessa Loop
And all over Anza Borrego. Hopefully there will be more Nor Cal stuff for us in 2014. Rubicon here we come!

Steve's loop is on the list:

First try:

Second time:

Anytime I can wheel in Vegas it is a great day as I am usually working 18 hour days while there. So when my colleagues go home to rest I call up my pals from warmachines702 and hit the trail. Potato ridge is a great run:

http://wayalife.com/showthread.php?12579-Potato-Ridge-Las-Vegas

Local trails rock! Even better when friends, and fellow jeepers, from out of town are able to go.

When stuck in Vegas for work, hit up the Warmachines group...

http://wayalife.com/showthread.php?10292-Vegas-Impromptu-Logandale-run

But I have to say my favorite was the Rubicon. As a wise person once said (Bondsy was it?)...if you are a jeeper you have to run the Rubicon:

First and foremost was the Wayalife Rubicon Run. I have gigabites upon gigibites of picture and video, but these stood out. Thanks for the experience!!

Second was my trip to the Goat Canyon Trestle Bridge. Even though the JK only got us to the Jacumba Gas Stations, and our boots carried us the 20.2miles of train tracks, this was an awesome trip.

Third, but equally badass was the trip OverlanderJK and I did to Bronco Peak. That was an awesome day man!

I'd say the 2013 Newbie Run and the 2013 Kick Off Runs were definitely up there on the list.

Thanks for a great year Wayalife! The memories and experiences have been life changing!!

Hands down, the Rubicon Trail is the most incredible run of 2013 for me. Even though I have a TJ and not a JK, had I not joined this forum, I probably would have not made the trip with my Jeep club because of the added encouragement I received from Eddie and the folks from my Jeep club. If anyone would have told me I would have taken my Jeep on the Rubicon, I wold have called them crazy. I still can't believe I did that run.
