Battle buddy build

So I have never done a build thread although I have built a couple Jeeps now. I have always grown bored of them before any type of usable completion. ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1445402351.095933.jpgImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1445402367.245908.jpg

This time I want it to be different.

With the wife's full backing( best thing ever) I have moved from a life of pre-2000 jeeps into a 2016 JKU Rubicon. It is in order and should be shipped in 6 weeks at most.
After help from all of you I plan on making this one a smooth low rider. On my previous build I have not spent the money to make the ride anything worth keeping for long.

I have an EVO enforcer lift sitting in my garage waiting (strange having parts for a car I don't have yet)

JRC front and rear bumpers

EVO rails

King Remote 2.5 shocks

37/12.50/17 MTRs ATX bead locks

Warn 1000 winch

I can't wait to start the build

Here are a couple more pictures of my most recent Cherokee. I have had a 89 4 door and 97 two door. ImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1445435482.319987.jpgImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1445435865.691863.jpgImageUploadedByWAYALIFE1445435888.209431.jpg

Congrats on the new jeep order and having a wife that is cool with it :thumb: Cant wait to see your buildup.

I finally get to pick her up tonight. I was going to get a 16 but was impatient and dealer traded for a 15 white rubicon.

I do have a couple questions,
How long have ppl ran stock front drive shaft on a JKU 3 inch?

Also with the EVO typically I see everyone putting on the door plating (forgot the name of the metal door skin guards) is this really needed??

Better warranty with a 15 anyway, so I am told :thumb:.

The rocker guards are not needed, just a lot of guys like to run them. Its a little extra protection when you run the rock sliders.

Congrats on the new Jeep. As far as the drive shaft, our good friend, Potatohead my know the answer to that.

Seriously, those joints don't last long even on a 2 inch from what I've seen. I would factor in getting that changed pretty soon. Just my :twocents:

It may last for a little while, but once you start to flex the front boot will hit the exhaust crossover and tear. Exhaust spacers can help this, but a new drive shaft is the way to go.

That's what I was thinking, I will order one today and keep the stock as a spare.
Any suggestions on a good track bar and steering set up would be good too!

If you want to do anything steering wise, I would suggest the Evo draglink flip kit. It uses an oem rhd link and raises the factory track bar up to match the lift height. I dont think you need it at 3" however. Im sure someone will chime in on that. The stock track bars are more than enough however and Eddie, Mel and most of those guys still run theirs :thumb:

First day with her and already having fun in the snow.

Does anybody have opinion on using the Evo rock sliders without the rock skins?

Can't really use the stock as a spare because they have two different yokes. Nothing's really impossible but wouldn't be fun on the trail. Also there are a few people who do use the sliders without skins. Depending on how much you use the sliders the body will bend into the sliders the skin just adds some extra strength but I have heard that the body can still be pushed in with the skins.

So if I keep the stock rubi rails and add the EVO rails would that be better. Then the evos will just hit the rubi's

I don't think you can mount them low enough to clear the Rubi sliders. I'd put the EVO sliders on now and if you decide to add the skins you just need to jack up the body after removing the body mount bolts. Plus the skins will cover and damage that might happen while you don't have them on. :yup:

I think there was a thread on this recently to use one or the other, not both. I could be wrong, I'll try and see if I can find it.
