backroad to crown king (Roll over)

Holy crap! That must have been seriously scary! I hope I never come across this situation.

got a second hand update on the jeep. Apparently, they were out by themselves at night going down the trail from ck towards lake pleasant. shortly after they passed the Orobelle mine the trail turns to a single wide shelf road that switchbacks along the side of the canyon. well alittle to much speed around one of the tighter turns and they found themselves at the bottom. From what I read, they walked back up trail to Crown King to get help. 2014 fully loaded rubi just had lift tires put on. guess it wasn't even a month old. There is a recovery group going out today to pull it up and get it off the trail.

Looking at the pictures provided the majority of the damage is to the driver's side and front.....there appears to be some driver's side A-post intrusion and airbag deployment......hopefully the driver was wearing his/her seatbelt and was able to escape with little to no injuries.....Maybe single occupant......uninjured....left the scene to report what happened.....I don't know the area well so the cell phone reception may suck and he/she needed to trek out a bit before they were able to call someone........I'm hoping that is the case in this instance....

Edit: Glad to hear the outcome was positive and they ended up unhurt.:thumb:

Thanks for the update. I can't help but to think that alcohol might have been involved or maybe just plain stupidity. Glad they're okay especially being that they were alone and at night - a real shame about the Jeep.

surprisingly, no airbag deployment on this. just driver side windshield was spidered, roof obviously ripped off and driver side damage. totally looks like a salvageable jeep.;)

in this portion of the trail it is surrounded by mountain and service is spotty at best. but I am shocked that if what I heard was true(about them walking to ck) they left cell phones, credit cards, and food/water at the jeep. that's kind of a red flag in my experience.

I also am glad that to hear that they were ok

Wow! I've been on this trail several times on a dirt bike. It can be difficult and dangerous in places, but alone, downhill, at night and with a brand new unfamiliar vehicle.... Really happy to learn everyone is safe.

Arizona 4x4 recovery went to get the jeep this morning at 4am he was called by the insurance company. The driver is ok last i heard!

Very sad to hear about the rollover but very glad to hear they were OK. Vehicles can be repaired/replaced but human lives cannot be replaced, repaired to some extent yes but never replaced.

Keep us updated please firecrew.

like eddie said it sounds like there was alcohol involved if they walked away without wallet, keys, and cell phones.

well, now that its clear that everyone is safe, I can say what I was thinking from the start......I would love to get ahold of that 2014 Jeep and salvage it!!!

I caught this a little late, but I think letting the local Sheriffs office know (if that hadn't been done), some parts of that trail are remote.

Hopefully the passengers are okay.

You beat me to it;)

looking at the photos, on the interior shot you can see some :asshat: ripped out the navigation system

I was gonna say the same thing. And tagged on the inside of the top?

I dunno Mr insurance guy.. Must have flew out the window on the way down the hill!

Someone stole the nav? Who in the hell go's out on a trail like this and is retarded enough to steal items from a crashed vehicle.... not only is it just messed up, it was probably extremely dangerous. Kinda wish the jeep would have rolled over on to that person:mad:
Makes me think it has to be fellow off roaders that do this theft and vandalism on these trails... obviously not a bunch of ghetto thieves just taking a stroll down the trail. Makes me sick
