Aux. Switches.

Need some help here. Attempting to wire accessories to the aux. switches on the Jeep. I’ve found the harnesses both under the hood, and in the pass side footwell. My problem is, they never do get hot, also indicated by no illumination on the switch. All of the fuses are good, and I don’t seem to have a way on the Uconnect to disable these, so I’m assuming they’re hot all the time. What am I missing?

They should be hot with ignition turned on.

They should be hot with ignition turned on.
That’s what I was thinking. Since the illumination in the switches don’t seem to work, I think my problem is ahead of the switch. I thought I read somewhere that the dealer had to activate them but I can’t find anything about that now.

Make sure the fuses are tight and in the correct spots. I have heard of some newer Jeeps having loose fuses from the factory.
Thanks for this. We’ve found some discussion other places that cycling the power, or after a couple of days, the switches start working. I’m not at a stage of the project for that style of fix.

Through the uconnect screen you should see options for these switches. You can toggle them to latching or temp and a few other things.

If you do not see them listed there you need to turn the switches on in the computer. If they are factory installed and under warranty get the dealer to help. If not use a tazer to enable them.

We were able to see the switching options on the screen. I didn’t see anything there that lead me to believe I could disable them so I assumed they were unlocked. Some information we found said if we pulled the fuse on the Uconnect it might help enable them. Well, we did that and now is says to start the vehicle to enter the pass code. I hope to have the tank back in the vehicle in a month or so. Do you think the Tazer would help fast track this?

Were the switches factory installed or done after delivery? Makes a big difference on how to troubleshoot your issue

Good question. I bought the vehicle used but I can do some investigating and see if I can find a line set ticket from the VIN. Thanks.
