AT LAST - Rubicat can steer again!!

After running Rubicat with a failed attempt to run a PSC ram off of a factory steering pump and reservoir for over a year now, the steering pump finally took. For the last few months we've essentially been driving without any power steering and if anything, with a ram that was fighting every turn. We ran all of Moab like this as well as the Defense Mine and more recently Devil's Canyon and let me tell you, it was hell. In fact, I was so sure I was going to blow a sector shaft that I always carried a spare with me just in case.

Well, last week, I finally got a new pump and 3.6L motor bracket from PSC as well as a new reservoir and, as of today, Rubicat now has steering :wings:

Man, I can't wait to test it out on the rocks :yup:

Spinach! Gotta eat your spinach! Can't imagine taking on moderate trails with stock tires, but hardcore trails on 40's (guess)? Impressive!:thumb:

Very nice. I'm jealous:yup:. No fitment issue with the new reservoir and the air raid? I know the kit requires a new intake but wasn't sure which ones work.

Great news! And the reservoir fits with your intake; I like how you did that.

And you reminded me I gotta install my breather hose!

Sweet! I see if fit with the CAI too. :thumb:

Please tell me a write-up is forthcoming?

Gratz, Your Arms must be thanking you already :)

Oh yeah, our last run really did them in.

Well, we were only pushing 37's but, it was still a pain.

There were fitment issue but I just did some trimming on the AIRAID box and made it work.

Not exactly, the 2012-up AIRAID comes with a box that's similar to stock. While it is smaller, it still needed to be cut into in order to make it work. Really, it wasn't that big of a deal to me as the 07-11 kit doesn't even come with a box.

Sorry, no write-up is coming per se as the steering box and ram were installed at Off Road Evolution and the pump and reservoir were installed by me. There was a lot of trail and error going on in order to make it work right and so there wasn't any direct process involved. I plan on taking things apart again though to install a second bracket on the reservoir and when I do, I might try to take some pics to help create some kind of guide but, that's about the best I can hope to do.

Do you guys recommend that steering ram for an everyday driver I've never driven a vehicle with ram assist

That would be helpful to me as I'm running the PSC on my 2012 with the stock resevoir. I'd like to see where you cut and put stuff.

I have the Airaid CAI as well and the PSC resevior didn't fit (I didn't think about cutting the airbox). I didn't want to purchase another CAI.

Awesome! Definitely going to do this now when I put on 37's.

Do you have much time driving it on the road sense you installed it. After I got used to mine I can really rail the turns. But I had to put a switch on my abs to keep it from coming on. I like driving it again now the abs isn't kicking on all the time and I can turn it on for the hwy driving. I was just wondering if there was something I was missing in setting it up? I had no issues before the install.

Nice! :thumb: I still don’t know how you ran without power steering for a couple months. :grayno:

What exactly is this? I get its a ram assist. But if I was to go to Northridge Nd search for it, is that what I would search for? Is it just a better power steering? I hear a lot of talk about it. Just don't understand exactly what it does. >.<

Have you double checked to make sure your steering wheel is centered? I've put on a lot of miles today and don't have any problems. Same is true on Moby
