ARB Fridges ?

My beer addiction has now accelerated. Screw you all.

I was just talking about one of these with the Mrs. What exactly is the attraction other than not having ice? Do you use it for sandwiches? I typically bring a soft day cooler with some beer, ice and lunch, but have a couple 65 qt. Yeti's back at camp for longer term goods.

It's been added to my list, with as much as we've been wheeling loading/unloading/refilling/adding ice of the Yeti every weekend has become a chore on its own! This thing in the back, and some sort of security deck would give us much more room and the ability to just hit the road without as much prep. This is going to be my Christmas or Birthday to myself this year if everything goes as planned :beer:

Everything! Our last camping trip was 6 days off grid with our ONE 50 quart arb.

If you read through the whole thread, you'll see tons of reasons listed, which is why we went with one sooner than later. Ours is already going strong in the garage and the wife is trying to take it over with her stuff. I've tried explaining to her that it's only for beer when it's at home.

If you're planning on putting it under the deck, make sure and study the measurements with whichever model you get. Ours does not fit under the JKU deck that I built. We may change that at some point, but for now, it stays at home or in the WJ on the trails.

So I know it holds 72 cans of beer but how is it for storing 12 oz bottles? I'm trying to justify one by using it as you do and for gatherings, but wonder how practical it is as a beer fridge. A lot of breweries are switching to cans but not all the good stuff is available that way yet. If ever. :idontknow:

This is a very valid point. I may just have to buy more bottles and find out how many it will hold. Shame on ARB for not testing that already.
 
Congrats on the fridge. Every time we go camping and I have to get ice for the cooler I think about how nice it would be to have a fridge. I think it'd be great for our shorter excursions as well when we just want to bring some lunches, cold water, wine, or beers.

You can hold quite a bit actually. I have done both the side stack and the alternating right side up/upside down stack. You just have to keep rearranging as you go through the stash so you don't have any bouncing around when you drive. I typically end up moving some food on top of the bottles to keep them in place.

Good words. :thumb: I'm anxious to really test this out. We're hoping to do a multi day trip at least once before the summer ends.
 
Slight derail...WJCO, I can start a different thread for the question if you don't want it here.


But I am curious if anyone uses or has used a drop-down or tilt-down slide for their fridge?


There are several options out there (many from Australia...come on America!). I was hoping to get some first hand experience/feedback before dropping that kind of money. I would like to maximize my "secure" storage area for the rear with a deck and mount my fridge on top, but still be able to access it without a step stool.


As to the question at hand, the fridge is a must have option. Hands down the best "mod" you can do. :rock:

Edit: Go with the 50L model with 3 kids...at a minimum.
