LA county is shutting down again to "stop the spread". This is getting to be so ridiculous. A disease 59 year olds and under have a 99.97% chance of surviving, 60-80 year olds have a 97%+ chance of surviving, and 80+ year olds have a 94% chance of surviving. For example my wife's 82 year old grandfather who had 2 heart surgeries this year is currently recovering just fine after contracting it. In addition to outdoor dinning be prohibited and other non essential businesses being closed, the county is prohibiting all public and private gatherings except those which are in the protected category such as religious gatherings and protests. My solution to that would be carry on with what ever gethering you intend to and simply call it a protest. Ie...birthday parties could now be called protests to getting older. For that matter closed businesses could refer to customers as protestors and their purchases are donations to the businesses' cause.

Yeah, just drove across the border to Orange county. You can eat & drink indoors here. I guess the Orange curtain is impenetrable to the virus.

So ridiculous.... we took the kids to the park yesterday... people everywhere... large groups BBQ'g... yet ALL the restaurants are empty. But Home Depot & the Super Markets are cool. Nothing make sense. Fuck Newsom & Garcetti.

Some moronic COVID modeling group here in Arizona is recommending a shelter in place for 3 weeks plan. Our governor better not do it or let “local” jurisdictions decide. I am gonna go about my shit as normal.

We have been told for months, to listen to the scientists. Mostly I do but, scientists aren’t always correct, and many of them will do anything to be noticed.

Remember when the experts told us that having had Coronavirus once, you could still be reinfected, therefore there was no immunity? Well look what they’re saying now.

It never made any sense that there was no immunity against this strain, because that meant a vaccine wouldn’t work.

About 6 months ago, my niece had a positive test. She was really sick. Two weeks ago she got sick again, tested her again and it was positive. Not sure how a vaccine is going to work, if you can catch this stuff multiple times

That can happen with any virus, but most will develop an immunity, unless the virus is mutating. That is science.

I am aware of less than a handful of confirmed cases of people catching the virus a second time. One was in Reno and they had access to both blood samples and were able to confirm it was two slightly different strains of the virus. Worldwide there are approximately 26 or so cases being investigated as second infections. Keep in mind that is out of over 54 million infections. So, the chances of it happening are something like 0.000048%.

I sincerely hope your niece is doing fine. But, don’t presume that she caught it twice. Two positives tests, even 6 months apart, don’t necessary mean she caught it twice and there are several medical explanations for the two positive tests. Many people continue to test positive for months after their symptoms disappear (which is why the CDC doesn’t require or recommend waiting for a negative test before ending quarantine after having Covid).

Based on the current scientific information, having Covid provides far more protection against getting it again than any of the vaccines.

The mutating part is what I feel will be the most problematic for finding a vaccine. The flu mutates every year

She had a couple negative test after the first incident. I guess this second go around wasn’t as bad as the first. She is doing good now. Thank you for the insight and concern.

Whelp, my wife and I are in 14 day quarantine. :rolleyes2: My daughter was in contact with a girl that tested positive this past weekend so until she's tested we're gonna hunker down and work from home.
Not that anyone wants to be sick, but part of me wishes I just get the fucking thing so I can get that over with.
