I think I've made it pretty clear that I don't like and/or trust either political party for a variety of reasons. Some of my distaste has to do with objections to various proffered policies, some of it has to do with what I view as an absence of integrity and honesty...and a lot of it has to do with what I view as the government's intended role in our lives (as set forth in state and federal constitutions and subsequent interpretive case law).

We are supposed to be a constitutional republic, and the separation of powers is a fundamental component of how our country is supposed to be run. Top to bottom, left to right, our federal and state governments have lost sight of that fact.

On the right, I am hard-pressed to think of an instance where Trump chose not to take action because he conceded that the Constitution imposed limitations on his ability to act, or that the Constitution had afforded the specific power to a different branch of government. (Isn't burning the Constitution to "drain the swamp" the very definition of cutting off your nose to spite your face?)

On the left, I watch dozens of progressive governors exert false power through perpetual declarations of emergency (an emergency, by definition, cannot exist in perpetuity) that clearly exceed the authority afforded them by their respective state constitutions. I see Biden and Harris doing the same thing if elected.

From where I stand, there is no scenario in November that results in the long-term preservation of our constitutional republic...and that saddens me. Sorry, rant over.

Well spoken Sharkey.

I agree with you on every point you made, and it saddens me that this is what our country has come to.

We were indeed founded as a Constitutional Republic. Most Americans are so ignorant, they have no idea what that means.
I, for one, would love to see a comprehensive list of, "Constitution trampling ", actions, taken by Pres. Trump.
I'm very aware of the many executive actions taken by Obama. I also consider the "Patriot Act", pushed on us by Bush, two, to be a violation. The ultimate offense is legalized abortion. Remember, the Constitution is supposed to protect, Life, Liberty, and the PURSUIT, of happiness. Abortion, destroys, all three.
Any gun control actions are a violation.
Forcing the population, and especially religious organizations to accept gay rights is a violation.
ANY, restrictions on speech is a violation.
I could go on and on. ALL, comitted by the left!
Trump's restrictions on foreign travel from muslim countries is absolutely Constituional. Restrictions on immigration is Constitutional. Tax cuts are Constitutional. Trump's border wall is Constitutional. Again.... I could go on and on.
Just this morning, I read a news story about the Democrats wanting to do away with the Electoral college. That would take the vote away from everyone who doesn't live in a populous urban, State. TALK ABOUT UNCONSTITUTIONAL!
So.... details? Shark man?
We are in a life and death struggle.
No compromise from me.

You are as much of a problem as the far left. You only see one side.

And the electoral college is unconstitutional. Show me in the constitution where it says anything about electoral college.

Nowhere in the constitution does it talk about abortion either.

The inability to find middle ground, and the presumption that one side’s perceptions are the only valid perceptions, will also contribute to the downfall of our nation.

As for whether there can be any restraints of any kind to any Amendment to the Constitution, well, basically every single Supreme Court Justice who has ever lived (as well as every single Constitutional historian), patently disagrees with you. The Amendments are not without bounds.

I’m driving so I can’t type up a comprehensive list right now, but I will. The easiest example deals with the Code of Federal Regulations, the APA of 1946, and whether ANY President can simply wipe out existing regulations or create new ones through surrogate “Executive Orders”.

I’m seeing more and more “Recall Gavin” sings pretty much everywhere I go.

Hell yeah...I hope they collect all the signatures required in time.

California in the 80's was such an awesome place, almost accepted a transfer to work there - glad I didn't
