Caught the Bug
We were pretty set on Texas. Actually had a realtor looking at property in and around McKinney area. But now we are starting a search in Colorado.
Where you thinking in CO Hoop? Any updates on your rig?

Winters were brutal in Nebraska and that is why we are leaning towards Pueblo. I am expecting snow but not like there. I am pretty pumped though. When we made the move to SC then to NC I still wanted to see more of the southwest....NOW we can. I would still like to make a trip up and down the east coast for the scenery and food some time. CO has so much to offer than any state I have lived in IMO.
I can't disagree! We so love Colorado. I just fear cabin fever in the wintertimes. If it wasn't for the cost of living in Cali it would be the perfect place for me. But what I pay in rent in Hermosa I could buy a ranch in Colorado or Texas.
So you looking Pueblo? Been there a time
or two. We like that side of CO as well but there is something about the Western slope that is just me! We are also like the Durango area like Bayfield.
Hope everything works out for ya and you find just what want!
From what I have read and I have talked to several locals there when I visited the winters are very mild compared to up north. Very affordable in Pueblo West with mountain views. Properties seem to sell quick too. Thanks!
This is our third change in less than 10 years...the most stressful and the most exciting!
There are some non-liberal areas. Boulder isn't one of them though, lol. There's a lot of little mountain towns though where people just want to be left alone, good folks.
Douglas county is nice and conservative...
We would move to CO in a heartbeat if it wasn't so liberal. We love visiting, though. Love the San Juan mountains. Maybe if we win the lottery and can be 100% off the grid on a mountain, away from civilization.
yeah, I keep looking at jobs in the state of Colorado, around Longmont, Boulder, and Denver areas seem to be where all the Engineering powerhouses are. Having never been there, its hard for me to choose where I want to be, but i'm sure as heck just about anywhere will be better for us then Houston. We are also liking some of the PNW (Seattle or Portland areas) As much as I would LOVE California, I just cant ever see myself living there. It would be cool to live close enough to be able to spend the weekend in the Sierra Nevada Mountains though! We are also trying to be very conscious of our career markets in areas of interest...
I've moved to CO not once, but twice. There's a reason for that - it's the best.
Colorado Springs is a sad place if you ask me. Pueblo is boring. Denver has everything going for it, but that's also why it's the most expensive. If you want to be in the southern area I suggest looking just a bit west up in the mountains. It's awesome up there. Everything is relative to what you're looking for. Next time I move it'll be up into the mountains.
Hey Tom,
You might already know this I am a former Nebraskan too!
I like the Durango and SW area a lot. You have the 14ers just north of ya, south the high desert of NM, west to Utah/Moab, and some of the best hunting in the state.
On the road to Ouray near the north side of McClure Pass is the Crystal Mill, one of the most photographed places in Colorado. It's a modest challenge from the town of Marble. It's awesome if you're fortunate enough to see it in the fall colors.

I'm in Asheville if you want to grab some grub before you go!
I knew that's why I was asking if you'd be driving thru. Didn't want to miss an opportunity to meet you.
Man, I wish I could swing it. Its gonna a be a loooong drive with the jeep on a trailer, with a uhaul and pets! Wife just said snow in CS and Denver today.
