Kenny-g
Caught the Bug
Thanks guys,
HOWDY! I'm Kenny out of San Angelo (West Texas...more or less the middle of nowhere) but I frequent San Marcos, Kyle, Buda, Austin, & San Antonio. Pretty much in that order lol my Fiancee goes to Texas State and we're getting married in Kyle, TX August 16th.
I've got a few "public service announcements" for my fellow Texans:
West Texans:
If you're in the Midland/Odessa area and don't know of West Texas Crawlers then you're probably blind because they have a shee-ite ton of members and they're really cool people. Two members of that club already posted in here (Keno4x4 and LittleTJD or something like that - Kenneth and Daniel). Like I said, they're good folks and do massive get togethers monthly. They do one trip a month.
"My club":
I'm apart of Cult of Jeep based out of Abilene, TX and it's mostly Veterans but there are chapters in Austin (new), San Antonio, and now the Concho Valley (the chapter I'm attempting to start here in San Angelo). If you're in any of these areas, look them up...they're a bunch of bad ass wheelers and good people overall. They're on FB and have a website (www.cultofjeep.com)
Twin Buttes Reservoir:
Here in San Angelo, we have free public trails called "Twin buttes Reservoir." I frequent this place since A.) it's free, B.) theres plenty of diverse wheeling to do, and C.) it's local and, in cased I didn't say it again, IT'S FREE! lol Plenty of room for a big ass gathering (West Texas Crawlers and Cult of Jeep got together last month with over 67 vehicles and everyone had a good time...just the trails were busy). It's much more fun in a smaller group of, say, 10 Jeeps or so. Like I said, I live here and am almost always down for wheeling as long as I'm in the area...HIT ME UP!
Hidden Falls:
I've gone to HF's 4 or 5 times in my JK and once in my old '12 Jeep patriot 4x4 FDII (the "trail rated" model). I absolutely love that place and hope to go with Aussie and his Austin buddies in April some time. I'm sure that'll be posted in the meet ups/crawling thread.
Katemcy Rocks (aka K2):
I've heard this place is tough as shit and will beat on you and your rig...I'd love to go but maybe in a few years when my '13 isn't so new and has more than one dent in it hahaha
Canyons Off Road Park:
Idk if y'all heard about the Texas 4 Wheeling 4 Warriors (or whatever it was called) that was this past weekend but aparently it was bad ass and it was held at Canyons Off Road Park. I haven't been but it's another park to look into.
That's basically all I have...oh! And if you wave at another Jeep and you get no response, pull a U-turn and chase their ass down and politely beat the "Jeep Wave" logic into them (please note...it's probably going to be a woman 9 times out of 10). I'm sick of waving at Wranglers and getting no response...
