ActionPacker - what size?

Caught the Bug
A lot of you are running the ActionPacker by Rubbermaid storage bins. What size do you have and maybe some pictures of them? I'm trying to figure out how best to arrange them in my JKU before I order them. They have dimensions, and I've done some rough estimates but I'd like to hear of some feedback. It looks to me like the 24gal is the best size for the rear of a JKU. Thoughts?
 
I'll have to look at what the exact size is of the ones we have but, I'm pretty sure it's the smallest one. Fits well under a Tuffy Deck too.

Thanks Eddie - if you wouldn't mind. They make it in 4 sizes. from 8 gal to like ~50.
 
I have three 8gallon ActionPackers. All three fit perfectly side by side behind the subwoofer on my 4door 2011. I'll see if I can grab a photo tonight.
I use one for fluids, one for tools/parts, and one for miscellaneous camping supplies and recovery.

My friend bought two of the 24gal ActionPackers. And they also fit side by side as well, but not as snug (also has a 4door 2011). He sent me this photo...

Thanks! the 2015 has even more room now that the sub is moved, so the 24g might work well. I'd love to see your 8 gal config too.
 
I bought some of these and they work great, can fit two side by side and they stack without sliding. They are only $9 at Home Depot or Lowes.

Ok, I'll be the one to throw it out there... I wonder who came up with the name Action Packer?? sounds like a superhero porn movie title :naw: :cheesy:
 
Ive got one of the 30 or 50 gallon ones in mine. I will try to get a picture tonight but it may be tomorrow before I get it posted up.

35 gallon one. Can still put the freedom top panels in their storage bag behind the seat with it in there. It does not give enough room to get into the cubby in the floor though. If the freedom tops aren't between it and the seats you can get something out of the cubby but it's still a pain in the butt.

I have been looking at something like a tuffy deck lid or an actual metal/aluminum tool box instead of this though for more secure storage while topless. I carry most of my tools with me all of the time. Having them with me has been handy several times so I will probably always keep them in the jeep. Just works for me. I would like to also get a smaller action packer for fluids if I do end up getting a deck lid.

I like these. They are way cheaper than the action packers and work great. I have a tendency to overload too!😀
 
I'll see about posting a picture this afternoon of them loaded in my rig. I really like that they can stack without sliding around. The lip on the lid keeps them together. I like the action packers, but the price and fact that they tend to slid when stacked makes them a bit annoying.
 
I have 2 of the 24 gal action packers. One is for camping/jeep/survial gear stuff the other is strictly hunting clothing. When I pack the jeep for trips I use the one plus a small cooler I have and set them side by side. Plus I use a lot of bags for tools, straps etc. Rather look for a bag that is in a easier to access area then dig thru the back end of my jeep looking for stuff. At the same time, I do plan to build a deck for the back end with tiedowns so I can load more stuff when topless.
 
I purchased all four of the 27 gallon totes pictured above for $39 from Home depot, tax included.
 
I only have one of the 24 gal APs, but I've found it to be a good balance between price and size for what I usually take with me. My only complaint is that if I include fluids in it, it gets a bit heavy and if there's anything light or fragile packed with it there's a bit too much shifting going on. I think I may invest in a separate 8 gal for the fluids or the Artec Quart Crate:

But cost is a factor there too because the 8 gal AP is around $25 and the Artec crate is around $100.
 
Wow good stuff guys, lots of good options here. I may have to check out the HD boxes, that price is just too hard to beat.

The Artec fluid crate is cool....but way to much $$$ for what it is like you said Dave. Something similar for just fluids would be cool. Does everyone just put the fluids in the various tubs, etc. Is it a good idea to pack fluids separately and what does everyone use to do so that takes minimal space?
