ACC BAR : The NEW & Improved WAYALIFE CB BAR

looks great Eddie, being I will be pre-ordering one, I appreciate you ensuring that it will be at its strongest. I would always rather pay a bit more than being unhappy with a result.

Okay, got this new ACC BAR installed and did the same testing as I did before and... no more bouncing!! Granted, I knew all along that making it out of laser cut tube would be the way to go and it performed just as I would have expected. Needless to say, I will get them into production and have them available for pre-order as soon as I can. With any luck, I'll have them manufactured, powder coated and ready to ship before the end of the month!

Here are a few shots of what it looks like installed.

Just like the first design, this ACC BAR sits up as high as it can be mounted.

As you can see here, it still sits ABOVE the sun visor.

It's also situated as close to the sun visor as possible and without getting in the way of the Freedom Top clamp.

And, thanks to the design, the ACC BAR does not interfere with the Freedom Top latches.

Here's a shot of what the radio and switch mount look like installed from inside.

Oh, one other thing. I am now making an adapter for my JL Antenna Mount that will allow for the installation of an NMO style antenna. Essentially, for those of you running GMRS or Race Radios. As you can see in the pic below, it will also work with the Mopar spare tire/tailgate hinge reinforcement.

Okay, so the reason why I haven't made this new ACC BAR available for sale yet and it's because there was one thing about it that I wasn't happy with. Being that it was made out of laser cut and bent steel, this as opposed to a tube like before, you could see some bouncing of the radio when driving on rough roads - like washboards and at slow speeds. It was nothing major and certainly not a big problem but... knowing that it was there just annoyed me. Needless to say, I looked into a whole host of options to address it including welds, a bolt on truss and a combination of both but all of that added in more man hours to make and install and it drove the cost way way up!

With that said, I decided to look into an option I had considered from the beginning but steered clear of due to it being considerably more expensive but ultimately, the best solution - laser cut tube. And, here are a few teaser pics of what the final ACC BAR will look like.

This is a view of it from the top and the side that will face the windshield.

The large holes on top exists for accessing bolts inside the bar.

Like the previous design, the bottom of the bar is lined with slots that allow for the installation of multiple devices and accessories.

Using a tube, no bending was required and so I was able to eliminate the slits on the ends. This helps to stiffen things up substantially.

And, just like the previous design, I was able to remove material from the center of the bar to allow the Freedom Top Panel latches to clear but left enough there to still offer rigidity. I also included holes on the ACC BAR that will allow for the installation of a future T-BAR.

Because this is now being made out of tube, I did have to remove the switch mount option but I will be offering a separate mount that will be offered as an option.

I will post of more pics once I get this installed. Assuming all goes well with testing, I will greenlight production and will start accepting pre-orders. Unfortunately, the cost of this new ACC BAR will be more than what I was hoping for but I will make it so that forum members can buy it for a significant discount. Essentially, for what I was originally shooting for.

That looks excellent.

Looks awesome! Looking forward to this
That looks excellent.
That looks really clean! 👍
Outstanding Eddie, well designed and thought out. I will definitely be picking one up to replace my current Wayalife CB Bar in my JKU.
Thanks guys. I have the laser house making them now. Got the powder coater ready for them too. Thanksgiving is the only thing keeping them from being ready to ship sooner but hoping to make that happen by the end of the month. Either way, I'll get it added to our store for pre-order soon. I will also be sure to send you a discount code for being a WAYALIFE member. :)

Just posted up an installation write-up for this and you can see it here:

Super easy install - faster and easier than before! (y)
