It'd been a long time since Cindy and I have had a chance to get out and just wander around the desert, like we typically do and after an exhausting week of covering the 2023 SEMA Show, we decided this was something we needed to fix. Needless to say, that's what we did over the weekend and in Pippi, our wonderful little red, 2-Door Jeep JL Wrangler Sport and one we that haven't taken out on the trail in quite some time. Here are a few pics from our trip.
So, the plan was to not really have a plan and so, we just headed north until we needed some gas. And, that lead us to the Area 51 Alien Center.
Always nice to make some friends out in the desert.
From here, we decided to head west if only because it was a different direction and that lead us to the Nevada and California state line which is also home to the Long Street Hotel and Casino and where this massive cow stands.
From here, we jumped off the pavement and headed out into the wilderness.
It never takes long to come across some cool old stuff like this, the foundations of an old mill.
On the move again and making our way south.
The silence out here was deafening and we loved it!
Making our way over a nice subtle pass.
It's always crazy how out in the desert, you often get 2 springs a year and wildflowers were very much in bloom.
When you're out in the desert, it's important to stay hydrated. Fortunately, we knew of a place that could help out with that.
Back on the trail again.
While fall makes it a lot nicer to be out in the desert or at least, temperature wise, I really hate how short the days are. Even though it seemed like we just got started on our adventure, the shadows were already getting quite long.
Since we were in the area, we decided to make one last stop at a canyon we hadn't been to in quite some time and before we lost all our sun.
It really is a shame that there are so many boneheads out there that feel such a need to destroy and vandalize places like this. I will never understand it.
Up on top of the canyon just as the sun was setting.
And here, we ended our day paying our respects to the last Renegade in Nevada.
And with that said, I hope you enjoyed our 100 mile trek along the western edge of Nevada. I know it isn't much in terms of pics but the whole point of this trip was for us to get out and relax and not make it into work.
