A Little Snow Play Today

Oh, right, I forgot to mention that housing is stupid cheap here!! As far as jobs go, Reno is just 20 min to the north and there's never any traffic. Sharkey and MTG are attorneys there and of course, in addition to an international airport, Reno has a ton of casino hotels. :yup:

Love Colorado too, just don't have the wide open deserts that I love so much.

Hmmmm, interesting. Didn't realize it was that close to Reno. Well, it's definitely a place I'd consider. The wife will love the fact that even in the dead of winter, a "short" 9 hour drive and we can get some sun in cali. :D

My wife and I would be "instantly" rich by moving out west. We aren't actually rich, but we do have some money saved up, but around where I live now (currently rent for $1850 a month) a house you guys would even CONSIDER living in runs about 700K, with 15-20K in annual taxes. That would buy you an ok house, probably under 2000sq/ft, less than .5 acres and an attached garage. For 400K in all of the above mentioned areas I was looking at, you can get MUCH MUCH more for your money. My only concern is work, as in, finding it.

As people in Nevada like to say, by moving here, you instantly get a 13% pay raise. As far as housing goes, EVEN IF there were something like what we just bought in SoCal (and there isn't), it would have cost over $1 million plus.

Well, glad it all worked out for you guys, Im sure you will be very happy, especially with that awesome 6 bay! Its always been my dream to have a garage like that!

yeah but living 4 hours from moab, i gotta say i have it pretty sweet! :thankyou:

Yeah, you got me there but, I still make the drive out anyway :yup:

Honestly, you don't even need to go to SoCal to get some sun (and truth be told, it's more like 7 hours and that's all the way to South OC). Just over the Sierra's, you have the central coast and it's real pretty there too. :yup:

That means a farther drive to ORE now?

eh, it's not too bad. We've been doing it the other way around for almost 20 years - we're just switching things around :yup:

Not sure if you know but what does the job market for law enforcement look like out there. I have been toying around with maybe getting out of the military, a lot if things are changing. My wife has said in numerous occasions that she would be interested in moving to Nevada.

Unfortunately, that is something that I don't know. What I can tell you is that Reno is "the biggest little city in the world" and if Carson City doesn't have jobs in law enforcement available, I would image that Reno would.

I'll have to check it out. I'd even be interested in LV if I could get a job that paid well. Reno would be awesome. I love the desert, but I love the Sierras even more, it's probably my favorite place one earth.

are you telling me because i wear those ridiculous looking short shorts that i can be a reno sheriff deputy????:shock:

Only on tv. Reno doesn't have a sheriff's department. (Reno has PD; the county in which Reno sits has a Sheriff's department). ;)
