6.4-liter V-8 JL Wrangler Rubicon 392 - How much would you be willing to spend?

There is a dealer in SW Washington asking $50k over MSRP. From what I’ve seen on several 392 forums most are being sold for either MSRP or between $5-$15k over MSRP. It’s the Wild West out there.

I did a "build" on JEEP the other night and I had it loaded, including dual door group, and it was $83,500.......

As I've said before, the whole point of wanting something like a 392 is so that I could run big tires and still have tons of power. Of course, that means I'd need 1-ton axles and new beadlock wheels and so that's at least another $20k you'd have to add to the cost. This is to say nothing about suspension or bumpers or rocker guards.

At this point and time, it would make way more sense to just have a motor swapped into my JL or JT.

Yep, considering all of the extra cost to run it the way most of us would want, a swap seems far more economical. If it was just a $10K upgrade maybe I could see it making sense, but $90K would go a long, long way towards making a hell of a sport JLU or JT.

Talked to my buddy at the local dealership last week and he ordered a guy in my area 3 identical 392's for his grown sons. I saw 2 of them running around . Sounded pretty badass. No thanks though. Other than the factory warranty, I also think the swap is the way to go.

As cool as it is...im not down with dealer mark ups.No way in hell id buy it at current prices.I can't afford it anyways so i guess I'm good lol

A Jeep dealer in Jasper Alabama has one coming and they have it listed for $78,300 on their web site. The window sticker is $77,100. Part of that is they force you into buying their powertrain warranty by including it in their high DOC fee lol. But if that price holds true then Somebody will get a deal. Kinda mad I didn’t wait two more months. Lol

I would say no to the swap, ive had 4 swapped jeeps, over the years, CJ with SBC, 2 AEV 5.7 hemi jeeps, and a LSA swapped jeep, they ALL HAD PROBLEMS! I jumped on the 392, its under warranty and it works!

Bummer you’ve chosen to go with some bad swaps. I’m on my second MoTech swap and have been very happy with both. The first LS lasted 10 years and my new LT has been awesome. As I've said, the whole point of wanting something like a 392 is so that I could run a big built up Jeep and still have tons of power. I have the big built up part now and for me personally, it would make way more sense to just have a motor swapped into my JL or JT.

with that said, congratulations to you for having the kind of money to buy a 392! Can’t wait to see it running 40s or bigger and killing it out on the trail and with that warranty 👍🏻

I would never pay a dealer markup. Hell, even MSRP is already set for the dealer to make their profit. Do your research, check around and get dealers to compete against one another. Usually, if you find a better deal at another dealer, you will be able to coerce your preferred dealer into at least matching that deal.

If you do pay over MSRP you will have to take that into consideration with financing options and insurance.

Indeed. This works.

I would love a factory Hemi in a JL, as long as that JL is a 2-door! Unfortunately a snowstorm is Hell is more likely than a V8 JLR from the factory...It is likely however the mid model refresh will feature a turbo inline 6 which should at least offer a performance upgrade over current JLR options.
As for pricing on the 392's, it is really hard-no, make that impossible to justify a TRX Hellcat priced Wrangler...
