38's - Are They the New 37?

I’m all for it. Oddly, my cooper 37x13.5s are already looking a smidge too small…. even though the day I put them on I was like hell yes!!.

yet, 40’s looks a tick too much with my modest 2.5ish lift…i’ll play the goldie lox card and hope cooper and nitto offer a few more options in some dirty8’s..
 
It depends on the owner of the jeep to install either of these sizes. All of us have different preferences when it comes to the auto parts and accessories that we will install in our vehicles. I will still stick with 37' I am not planning to do some upgrade since I am happy with it.
 
I was pumped for these 38s when you posted the video Eddie, but I'm finding $150 per tire premium over the 37s a hard pill to swallow
 
im running 37x13.50 coopers on my 2 dr and they already feel like a bear to push around with a 6 speed and no hydro assist. Im always paranoid about breaking stuff even with a pr44 and 35 spline rears. idk i feel like 38s are a market for people wanting to get the most out of their 44 axles and just personally i dont want to go any bigger on mine. I can see how they would be appealing on a 4dr but still IMO id rather go 1 tons and 40s i dont see the need to upgrade my coopers anytime soon without 1 tons.
 
I would go 38's becasue my Toyo 37's measure 35.5 @ 30 PSI. With the 3.5" lift I have, the tires look small. After seeing Eddie go from 37's to 38's, the 38's looked much better.

To be fair, NO tire measures as tall as what is stated on the sidewall. See link below.

And really, the only reason why my 38's look so tall is because they're only 12.50 wide. As in, they're pizza cutters and the skinny profile makes them "look" taller.
 
They were available after I sliced a 40” Cooper open on the sidewall…my only complaint is I’m at 3200 rpm at 70 mph on Brute with 5.38’s

Idk, they still looked bigger. Maybe if we put your 38's on my JT then I could see for myself after 30-40,000 miles 😁
 
I will definitely be putting 38’s on my 392 here in a couple months. Honestly 40’s to me make everything not a big challenge anymore. Like on the rubicon just point it and it will go. Don’t really have to pick your lines anymore. I’ve told multiple people they should start small to actually learn to wheel and pick the right line. I’ve thought about going away from 40’s because of it.
 
Currently debating this right now.
Gonna be purchasing 1tons soon which means new wheels and the thought of de mounting beadlocks and re mounting my cooper's sounds more annoying than just selling them as a mounted set and getting new tires. Not supper happy with the wear on my cooper's and plan to go nittos but given than I currently have 37x1350 and the trail grap in 37 is only 1250 I feel like it would be weird to buy a smaller tire after a 1 ton swap 😅 so the 38x1350 nitto trail grap is looking enticing right about now.
Not quite ready for the 40s on the suspension side and honestly a 2 Dr JK on tons and 38s I can't imagine really needing much more for a while
