I did check my build sheet (I bough this beauty second hand a while back). I do have 3.73 manual JK Sahara.
Now, guys, I didn't respond to the thread today because, yet again, I spent the entire day in numbers and comparing 1000 chrome tabs of wheels and tires (my brain hurts). However, I do feel like I am getting close to a resolution.
I'll be honest, I WANT a nice looking comfortable Jeep for the city (I like 'em so much I rather burn gas than ride in a civic). I live downtown, I'd rather have a nice streeter than a 35" offroader, and just look at your pics on the rocks
So. I have to admit, the more I look into this, the more I realize how confusing it all is.
I am going to steer clear from the 34+. I am leaning towards getting some 275/70R18 or 295/70R17 (both seem to gravitate in the 33s). I have also came to the conclusion that I will get new wheels to accommodate these tires with the appropriate backspacing.
So I am currently comparing some Dick Cepek, Micky, Goodyear and Ko2 tires in the 33's range.
Now, I found really nice wheels (for example those over-popular XD rockstars) that sell in 17's and 18's. So I have to pick which size wheels before I pull the trigger on a tire.
The wheels I have found are:
A -
18x9, 0 offset, 5BS
B -
17x9, -12 offset, 4.5BS.
Keeping in mind that this is a streeter, and I love my current 18s, I would like to stay with the 18s. However, I am really afraid about the "
GET 4.5 BS !!!!" posts I have seen everywhere and get confused with other posts from renown sources say "275/70R18s are OK no rub on stock 18" wheels with 6.5BS".....!! Which makes me think that 295/70R18s which are about .5" taller should be fine with 5BS ??? *confused level 100*
My question for you guys, now :
A - Is it OK (no rub) to grab 275/70R18 (33-33.5") tires with 5" BS ?
B - Or do I have to stick to 285-295/70R17s with 4.5BS ?
Thanks a million !
