I'm guessing that those bypasses are how Jeep was able to get pics of their different stock models on the Rubicon?
They stack A LOT of rocks on those trips.

Looks like an amazingly good time. I can't wait to join such a cool looking group of people on one of the most amazing trails. The pictures really put you there and lead to hours of day dreaming for a lot of us on here I'm sure.
Out of curiosity were there any other spots on the trail that gave the 35's/ no lockers Jeeps problems like the little sluce? Or is that considered the pinnacle of toughness?
Just wondering if I could tackle it in my current state of build.
Thanks again for the fun time and hope to join soon!
There's still obsticles for the most extreme rigs to be challenged on, but the little sluice USED to be the pinnacle of toughness on the Rubicon. A little over a year ago they demo'd the huge boulders to make it easier and less likely for rigs to tip and spill oil/coolant/etc like they used to. There are bypasses throughout the trail(there's one for little sluice) and a 4D on 35's can get through without lockers.
Thanks for posting up the pics Eddie. As always you captured the moment. Someday Canvas JK and myself will be on the Rubicon.

Actually, you can get a stock JK through the entire trail if you're willing to beat it up and or get winched/yanked over the toughest sections. I've seen it done - it just sucks as it slows the up whole group big time. Also, looking at the Jeep ad pics, I don't think they even run the whole trail.
SOLD, I'm taking a vacation! Rubicon here I come! :bleh: J/K
LOL!! I should note that with a 2.5" Budget Boost, 35" tires, rocker guards and a good driver, you can do the whole trail without too much trouble. That's a pretty affordable build and one that I have run the Rubicon with.
I'm actually starting to lean that route. Someone bumped your budget boost write-up earlier and it started giving me ideas.
Edit: The "Good driver" mod is going to be the hardest....

:cheesy: A good spotter can help out a lot too.
As far as your build goes, tires will be the most expensive part for you. A budget boost and wheel spacers can be had for cheap. If you look around, you can even find them used and save even more. Definitely a good starting point and one that I've done in the past.

Several times I thought we hit a dead end until Adam climbed something that I would have never even thought was the trail.
Can I get on the list for next year now? Sucks that buying a house kept us from going on this trip... Priorities & all :bleh: what a great trip we missed :grayno:
There are also plenty of places where one could get confused and a bit lost like around Buck Island Lake and just after. In fact, I believe that the back half of our group did get lost and had to do some back tracking.
To be fair, you got to follow us on the Rubicon and I made sure to take everyone on the easiest lines through. For instance, I took you down the Slabs rather than the Old Sluice which is technically part of the original Rubicon Trail. In fact, I believe that the back half of our group did get lost and had to do some back tracking. And, even if you wanted to take the Little Sluice bypass, you'd have to know where they are and which one to take. Depending on which way you go, 35's and no lockers can be really tough especially if you don't know the best routes. Just putting some perspective on things.
BONUS VIDEO CLIPS
Oh, almost forgot, here are two short videos that Cindy and I took with our iPhones that I think were fun enough to share along with this thread. The first is of ttfhell, OverlanderJK, Scuba Steve and Irish JK riding the rope swing and taking a dip into the frigid waters of the Rubicon River....
