1985 CJ-8 Scrambler Restoration

WTH!?! How did I miss this thread?

This is sweet! Definitely will be following this! Isn't it a damn shame pretty much everything made in the 70's turned to a pile of junk in just a few years in the rust belt? :grayno:

Thank you! It is a shame, even when you go out of your way to keep them clean, salt always wins. But the good thing is once this is done, it will never see salt again. I really wanted it ready for Drummond, but that’s looking less likely.

Glad to see an update on this! Is that your shop?

No, I’m having a restoration shop do the build. I badly wanted to restore it myself, but it would be years before I could and the rot was really setting in which would have been over my abilities to repair anyway. My company has consumed most of my time and will for years to come and the little I have outside of that is spent with family. The only good side is being overly busy is it pays for Jeep parts. The bad side is I haven’t been on a trail since February.

It really is good and bad at the same time, I haven’t been off road since I drove off Drummond last August I don’t think

Nice project! Looking forward to seeing more progress. I would like to do something like this once the kid is off to college. Two more years.

Ahhhh I’m glad to hear you’re staying busy with your business [emoji106] I’m also glad to see the progress on the restoration

Great progress, love seeing the updates as they happen. Glad you got a good team tackling the rust. Gotta be done right to keep it gone, which is always worth the wait.

For sure. The right guys, and a lady, make all the difference. One of the coolest thing about the group is the perfect welds she can lay down!

Haven’t seen the axles yet, but JKBrick found a picture of them on Instagram on fusions page. Can’t wait till they arrive!
