There are good winch plates you can buy that will allow you to keep your skid plate without modifying you Jeep. Take your time and build it the way you want even if you have to spend a little more to get it right.

Yes. The hook is an open system. The bow shackle is a closed system. Closed systems are safer.
Yes, I still have hooks in the front. That will change when I can afford bow shackle mounts.
