In The Shop - Disciple Off Road

It IS true! That is why Jeeps come with a flat bed area in the back where you can put a beer (Pliny The Elder) cooler in to properly balance the Jeep. Maintaining a properly balanced Jeep is important!

    Tire size?

What is your average elevation? My 2-door gets really good mileage at higher elevation (>5k), but the mileage really goes down at low elevation. At higher elevation the air is less dense so it is easier to drive through.

    Tire size?

Yes, you will see 8th speed again. But it is still good to regear (to 4.56) if you can afford it. I have 35" Nitto tires on a 2-door Rubicon and it still does often run in 8th on the highway. However, I have the 2.0T motor which develops a lot of torque while at speed. I do wish the gearing was...

DEALERSHIP EXPERIENCE - Do You Give Straight 10s?

In most of our car/Jeep purchases the dealership has tried (or succeeded) with screwing us over during the final purchasing process. For example "forgetting" to include the promised $2,500 discount, or secretly adding things to the purchase documents. Luckily, we did catch the underhanded tricks...

The Build and Adventures of Bearclaw

A 392 with 35s and 4:88 gearing (with full float axels) sounds like a suitable replacement, and it might cheer you up. So that is what the insurance company should offer!

DEALERSHIP EXPERIENCE - Do You Give Straight 10s?

Unfortunately, some times it takes time and pain to realize that the dealership you have been going to (for convenience) is staffed by employees who are clueless, or don't give a shit, or have been instructed to rip off the customer. I had a sales manager tell me that the letter (on corporate...

And so it Begins... the 392

Maybe it was attached to a board, which immediately disintegrated once the nail went through the tire.

DEALERSHIP EXPERIENCE - Do You Give Straight 10s?

The crummy dealerships do not seem to request surveys. I will be honest with all survey questions. If someone treated me kindly and intelligently, then the starting point is a 10 and they can only lose points due to poor service. If I was not even welcomed, then the starting point is a 7 and...

The Build and Adventures of Bearclaw

Jeeps (especially built ones) don't have a wonderful stopping distance so always allowing extra room is wise. He is lucky if there were no injuries.

Some of those humanoid beings may even be members of this forum! Perhaps they are Jeep fans!
