it's been a long time since I opted for the repair, but last time I had one done it was $40 and a windshield shop actually used to occupy a grocery store parking lot corner with a pop-up canopy which made it more convenient than going to their location.

Bro, I worked many years behind the wheel of a diesel. They may act like little angels, but 85% of them are the most dangerous drivers on the road.

Just glad I am dispatch/management now.

On our way back to Carson City yesterday, we got behind a couple of slow moving semi trucks and as I pulled up behind them, the guy in back started to get all kinds of pissy impatient and tried several times to pass the guy in front of him. After the 3rd attempt, the mother fuckin driver decided that he was going to straddle the shoulder in what looked like his way of telling the truck in front (who was pulling an empty flat bed) to speed up. Of course, when he did this, he started to kick all kinds of gravel and before I could back up far enough, one hit our relatively brand new windshield hard and cracked it :mad:

But hey, I know the guy was just doing his job and I got what I deserved and I should just be grateful that I can drive on highways made for him :rolleyes:

What sucks the most is that we have adaptive cruise control and that means this is a super expensive windshield to replace. I can only hope this crack doesn't grow or at least, long enough for me to get it fixed in place. :(

Damn that really sucks. When I got the van first thing I asked my insurance company was is my windshield covered. It has all kinds of Mercedes bells and whistles. When I looked up replacements they were upwards of $1200. They told me I could replace it under my comprehensive coverage and just pay the deductible. Maybe that's an option you have too.

I actually got windshield insurance on both my 392 and new RAM and I've already used it once for the 392. Cost only $600 and it's good for 3 windshield replacements. Well worth the cost and I should have gotten it for my big Gladiator too being that it has adaptive cruise control.

In any case, I tried the windshield repair and I'm really happy with the results of it so far.

Might as well try fixing it yourself and potentially save some money. What's the worse that could happen? End up paying someone to fix what you couldn't....haha

Oh, there are shitty drivers behind the wheel of a personal vehicle.

But if people would see what trucker drivers do while driving, they would be terrified. Lol

Hell had to fire a guy for watching his tablet, football game, while driving 70 down the interstate.

He forgot we have cameras inside for insurance purposes.

FYI: I called my State Farm ins agent to finally put a claim in for my big windshield chip. They offered to fix it for free but I told her that it’s the original glass and it’s really pitted and difficult to see through in certain conditions… getting a brand new OEM installed next week for free. 😁 She said it’s part of our comprehensive and that the deductible is $0. So those of you with State Farm should have the same options.
