it's the smoothest gun I've handled to date; they sell out fast around here.Oh shit... new to the CA roster... I'm not paying $2800 for a gun though.
Some reviews on the HD P4 Series 80 & Glock Mag were Meh.. I definitely want to shoot one though. It's now the only 4" 1911 9mm optic, Double stack available in CA... Personally I just want a 4" Commander Single stack optic ready 9mm 1911 like the new TRP... but apparently thats too much to ask.it's the smoothest gun I've handled to date; they sell out fast around here.
Wow that is clean looking.Oh shit... new to the CA roster... I'm not paying $2800 for a gun though.
WOAH! Love the look of that but yeah… not sure about dropping $2,700 on it.Oh shit... new to the CA roster... I'm not paying $2800 for a gun though.
Is that your carry gun?
Stand too.Is that your carry gun?
Yeah, carry deer hunting. Is that your carry gun?
I carried a 500 magnum in a leg holster for years backpacking in moose country. Same reason as you, you can't really hip carry with a backpack. I went out often. I think with a large gun, there's no such thing as perfect comfort but it wasn't bad. The gun center was right above my knee IIRC. When I get home, I'll post pics and see if there's a brand name on it.I need some advice...
I carry a Gen 3 Glock 20 on my hip whenever I hit the hiking trail here in AK. Problem is, any sort of backpack with a waist strap or hip pad tends to interfere. I've played with the idea of a chest rig (even though I'm not a fan) but this gun is just too big... and I'm a very average sized dude.
That brings me to drop leg holsters. Anyone use one here? I don't want something so far down my thigh that I feel it with every step but getting that grip a bit lower down would sure be nice. Was also worried that my options might be limited with the Gen 3 but I think they're compatible with Gen 4 holsters... please correct me if I'm wrong!
Thanks y'all!
If guys can carry a scoped 8 inch S&W .500 in a chest rig, you can carry a Glock 20 the same way.

I got this thing like 15 years ago. As you can see, it's universal ish. IIRC I couldn't find one specifically for my gun so it doesn't even cover the trigger guard. Only thing I had to do was use upholstery thread to fix the main holster part to the vertical strap. Before doing this, the gun would want to flop outward. I just now held it up to my waist, and actually the entire gun is above the knee. Best part about this style is when you get to camp, you can detach it from your person but leave the upper clip on your belt. I didn't want to have to remove my belt every time i wanted to take the gun off. Off/on very quickly. This thing was honestly pretty comfortable hiking with. That's great news. My main concern with a drop leg is just constantly feeling the weight of the gun with every stride. But if you didn't have trouble with a gun that size then my lil' ole plastic 10mm shouldn't cause a problem.
Looking forward to pics of that beast! I'm not sure which brand holster to go with either. I've basically been a holster slut so I haven't really settled on a favorite, and none of them have stood out as all that bad either. But with all the movement and attachment points (and price) on a drop leg, I want to be more careful choosing.
Check out the safariland MODEL RGR-UBL. Not a full drop leg but I bet it’s low enough not to interfere with a hip belt on a pack and you still get a thigh strap.
