I bought my 2020 JLU Rubicon 2 years ago. It’s stock, except for a rear shelf I installed. I also have an Intech Rover camper that is a teardrop configuration but has some extras like a cassette toilet, AC, Etc. It weighs 1850 lbs dry.

I tried Airlift bags to help stabilize the Jeep, and help with sag. Works well except when I tow it anywhere in the mountains. The exhaust is too close to the left side coil and it pops. I’ve tried three times, each time making improvements to heat shields and or hot rod exhaust wrap. The climbs from Phoenix to Flagstaff generate too much heat for the bags. I will add that the thickness of the bags is pretty pathetic.

Additionally I regulate my RPMs manually and do my best to stay under 3000 RPM while maintaining reasonable speed to keep the heat generated as low as possible, still didn’t help.

Please help me and suggest some other alternative, I will greatly appreciate any wisdom from this group.

Thank you in advance!

Factory exhaust or does it dump under the body? Good exhaust tape should allow almost zero heat to escape to that area. Hell, I’ve been on a trail all day in an LS swapped Jeep with the exhaust super hot but with heat tape I can touch the exhaust no problem.
I second this ^^^

Also, welcome to WAYALIFE (y)

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

Factory exhaust and that’s interesting if you can touch the hot exhaust if wrapped with hot rod tape. That should definitely take care of this then.

Also I’m only inflating the bags to 25 psi when I’m towing. Just enough take the sag out.

I’d prefer not to invest in springs, I’ve heard they will make the ride even more uncomfortable. But maybe you guys have a recommendation?

Welcome from a former 2W1X1 and T2T

Welcome from Phoenix! The climbs out of the valley suck, unfortunately I have no words of wisdom to add.
